Dear Winthrop Parents and Caregivers,

Thank you so much for your support in helping students participate in Kindness Day by wearing their grade-level colors! This visual unity set a wonderful tone for the whole day. Students and staff had a terrific time, culminating in our school-wide Kindness Assembly.

The assembly was an engaging experience for everyone. In addition to a school-wide song that celebrated unity, each grade level presented a unique, interactive activity. These activities included sharing an original poem, collaboratively creating a picture to represent kindness, and showcasing acts of kindness expressed in different languages. We believe the students enjoyed the focus on empathy and positive action, and we are proud of their participation.

As the autumn weather transitions to colder temperatures, we want to reiterate the importance of warm attire. Students head outdoors for fresh air and movement during two recess periods each day. Please ensure your child is consistently dressed in hats, waterproof mittens or gloves, and warm, weather-appropriate coats. Layers are highly effective for adapting to changing temperatures throughout the school day. Your diligence helps us keep all students healthy and energized while enjoying the outdoors.

We are now nearing the conclusion of the first term. This is a critical time for assessing student growth. We strongly encourage all families to schedule a conference with your child's teacher to review their academic progress, social-emotional development, and goals for the next term. Our teachers are dedicating time to accommodate these important check-ins, so please reach out soon to arrange a meeting time that works for you.

Finally, a huge thank you to our two dedicated volunteer organizations: FRIES and the Winthrop Green Team. Your commitment, from supporting school events to promoting sustainability efforts, has been invaluable throughout the first term. We look forward to your continued partnership.
