BAE Women in Technology Graduates
Congratulations to Rachana Giri, Emma Nguyen, and Alyanna Estenor for completing the BAE Women in Technology program. They participated in a four-month rotating module style course put on by BAE Systems in Manassas. They tackled things like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, and more. Each group was required to design and work through a Mars landing habitat, where they had to use their own expertise to benefit the team as a whole. Their hard work was recognized at Stonewall Golf Club on 3/4.
New Student Open House April 23
Gainesville High School is hosting a new student open house on Thursday, April 23, 6:00-8:00 pm. New students and their families will have the opportunity to explore our academic and activity fair in the gym, tour the building, and attend informative breakout sessions. GHS Cardinal spirit wear will be available to purchase. Parents/guardians should attend with their student. If you know of any incoming Cardinal families, please share this news!
Cardinal Activity Booster Club (CABC)
The Cardinal Activity Booster Club (CABC) has a number of open board positions for the next school year. Open positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Spirit Wear Chair, and Sponsorship Chair. We are looking for parents of student athletes to take on these roles that directly impact student sports teams, activities, and clubs. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the CABC is essential in bridging the gap between school budgets and the needs of our student-athletes and extracurricular clubs. Board members oversee operations including fundraising drives, corporate sponsorships, and managing home game concessions. These efforts directly fund new equipment, team travel, team requests, and senior banners. If you are looking for a practical way to support the high-quality experience of Gainesville students, we invite you to join the board and help lead these initiatives. Please email communications@gainesvillecabc.com for more information!

Academic Advising Update
Parents should check their student’s course requests through Parent VUE under Course Requests. School counselors are just about done with rising seniors and halfway through rising juniors. If your student missed their appointment with their school counselor, they will be called down as soon as possible. The last day students can make changes to their request is May 8; changes are made via the Course Request Change form on the Counseling Canvas page.
Junior SAT School Day – April 15
We are quickly approaching April 15 – Junior SAT School Day. On that day all Juniors will take the SAT for free during the school day. Students are automatically registered and there is no cost to families. Senior students will work asynchronously, and those in grades 9 and 10 will participate in their classes as usual.
Students can prepare now using Khan Academy for excellent SAT approval. Families can help support a successful day by ensuring their students show up on time, have prepared with Khan Academy, and bring their fully charged PWCS iPad.
