When winter weather is in the forecast, Killeen ISD monitors conditions from multiple sources so we can make informed decisions and notify families quickly. If a delay or closure is needed, you’ll receive an alert through our mass notification system and see updates on our website, social media, and local news. Now is a great time to double-check that your contact information is current with your child's campus.

The JDA Middle School cafeteria recently transformed into a concert stage as Killeen ISD fifth-graders got their first hands-on experience with orchestra. With guidance from KISD orchestra directors and student musicians, students learned the basics, tried real instruments, and built confidence one note at a time. By the end of the day, many went from hesitant beginners to performing together—proving that big growth can happen fast with the right support.

Nine Killeen ISD campuses have been recognized for counseling excellence with the 2024–2025 CREST Award from the Texas School Counselor Association. The award celebrates outstanding counseling programs and strong support for students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. This recognition reflects the daily work of KISD counselors to meet student needs and help them succeed in and beyond the classroom.

KISD student-athletes from across the district came together for the annual Student Leadership Summit—and left with more than motivation. Through guest speakers and hands-on challenges, students practiced resilience, strengthened teamwork, and sharpened what it means to lead by example. Now they’re taking those lessons back to their campuses to elevate teammates, classmates, and culture.
