SYNERGIZE!!!

Doesn't the word "SYNERGIZE" sound powerful and exciting! When we synergize, we give our best to other people and to our work. Click on the picture to understand better how to synergize. Life is an exciting adventure, and we can be more powerful in everything we do when we work as a team. In the month of February, MES students and staff are synergizing to create the best education experience possible. Read on to see how MES is doing.

AT MES WE HAVE THREE WAYS... AT MES WE HAVE THREE WAYS...

All except Mason that is!

Watch this! What do you see that is NOT "Respectful, Responsible, or Safe?" Discuss with your teacher how Mason should be acting in the cafeteria.

ROVING REPORTER REPORT ROVING REPORTER REPORT

What Would You Say?

By Kamden Blackburn

As Roving Reporter, I surveyed Ms. Chalk's fourth grade students to find out which one of the five leader in me habits have been the easiest for them so far and why. Here are three students' replies:

Nick Pfaffl

I thought habit 1 was the easiest for me because I am responsible and I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one else is looking.

Sydney Montgomery

Habit 3 has been the easiest so far because I am very organized and disciplined. I do things that I should do and I follow my plans and schedule.

Leader in me trait habit 4 is easiest because I’m very considerate and I always agree with people and am kind.

100th Day in Kindergarten

By Davin Hudnall

98.. 99..100!! On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, Manchester Elementary had its 100th day of school. The kindergartners have learned a lot in their first 100 days of school. They learned how to count to 100 and learned all of their ABC’s. They also learned how to add and subtract numbers and read and write. Mrs. Teke decided to capitalize on the day and do some fun activities with her class. First, they made crowns to wear for the 100th day of school. Secondly, they brought in their favorite items and made the number 100 out of them. If they did it correctly, they got candy. After that, they proceeded to do jumping jacks for 30 seconds, then switched to jogging for 30 seconds followed by 20 seconds of sit ups, and finished with 10 seconds of slow high knees. All in all, the 100th day of school was a numerical experience.(Click here for more pictures.)

101 Days In Second Grade

By Jessica Wullenweber

On the 101st day of school, second grade students donned 101 Dalmation hats and filled treat bags with 100 yummy foods. They filled their bags with all kinds of their favorite treats. After they counted 100 pieces, they got a cookie for their 101st thing. What a fun way to understand what 101 really means!

Sixth Grade Space Travelers

By Mason Hamlett

“What’s a light-year? It’s the same as a regular year, but with less calories!” That may be a funny joke, but here are the facts. During the week of January 22nd, Mrs. Hopper’s and Mrs. Beam’s sixth grade classes traveled to deep space at the speed of an MES light bulb as students presented their Solar System projects and slideshows. Students were graded on their creativity and whether they included all the assigned planet information, labels, correct order, and scale. The projects were out of this world! Robot Athletics

By Jessica Wullenweber

“Hurry, put the cube in the corner!” On Tuesday, January 21, the Manchester robotics teams had a competition at Aurora Elementary School. They did awesome! This was the second meet of several to come in order to determine this school year’s best robotics team in SE Indiana. Teams have practiced weekly and worked hard to achieve better robotic skills. Each team built their robot by themselves with very little help from their teacher.

Fifth Grade Teacher Mrs. Metz

By Gracie Brock

Mrs. Metz is the new-ish fifth grade teacher who replaced Mrs. Davis. Mrs. Metz says she had a banking job for the last 12 years and she knew that it wasn’t for her. She knew that she wanted to be a teacher because she loves to work with kids. She also enjoyed teaching her son when he was in kindergarten. Mrs. Metz graduated from Miami University with a Batchelor’s Degree in Science. This is her first year teaching. She loves the small town feel of teaching at Manchester. She has a husband and two boys, a nine year old and a five year old. When she isn’t at school, she likes to hike, ride bikes, and hang out with her family.

Mrs. Busha has a famous "rhythm" to help the kids learn: "Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fry, Icy Coke, Thick Shake, Sundae and Apple Pie." All of the kids love Mrs. Busha and her rhythms! MES is so glad she's back!

Love Yourself

By Jessica Wullenweber

How much do you love yourself? Could you say that you have never put yourself down for something? You shouldn't put yourself down. If you stay strong and continue to believe in yourself, the bully will lose and you will feel relieved. If you don’t feel good about yourself, you should think of all the things you love about yourself. You are awesome, smart, and funny. You are beautiful inside and out. Just remember that you are you and no one can change you. Remember that you are awesome, and others will soon believe it too. It is important to love yourself.
