Community Compass Vol. 1

Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!
Dear Lipscomb Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at William Lipscomb Elementary—the Pride of Old East Dallas!
This year marks a powerful chapter in our school’s legacy. On September 19th, we proudly turn 104 years young, and on March 18th, 2026, we’ll celebrate eight incredible years as an International Baccalaureate World School. As we honor where we’ve been, we also celebrate where we’re going: with an elevated “B” academic rating and a beautifully refreshed building, our Pride is stronger than ever.
When our staff returns on Monday, we do so with heads held high. This progress is a direct reflection of the belief we hold in our students’ limitless potential, and the dedication, effort, and collaboration that define our community.
You’ll also notice exciting transformations as bond-funded renovations continue throughout the year. While these updates may bring short-term challenges, I firmly believe that our physical spaces send a message—one that our students are worthy of beautiful, inspiring environments. I’m excited to watch our building rise to meet the excellence happening inside it every day.
Our theme this year—“Together We Rise, Together We Roar!”—captures what makes Lipscomb so special: unity between school and home. Your involvement—through PTA, family events, classroom support, or simply reinforcing learning at home—makes all the difference in helping our students soar.
Thank you for being an essential part of our community. We can’t wait to rise—and roar—together this year.
With pride,
Isaiah Carter
Principal

Welcome From the PTA President
Let's go Lions!
It’s that time of year again, and I’m so excited about everything happening at William Lipscomb Elementary School – the PRIDE of East Dallas! I’m Ryan Walton-King, the PTA President for the 2025/2026 school year, and it’s an honor to serve our kids, teachers, and staff. My husband and I are proud parents of a 4th grader.
For many of you, this is a familiar routine, and you know the ropes. For others, this might be your first year, and I can imagine you’re feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I want to remind you that the reason I serve is because of the incredible community we have here at Lipscomb. We are a group of parents who truly advocate for each and every family, and we care deeply about your success. We strive to ensure that every day at Lipscomb is the best educational experience possible for your children.
The PTA plays a crucial role in shaping and living out the culture of Lipscomb. Many hear “PTA” and their faces scrunch up and they start running! I get asked all the time why I would serve as president for 4 years. It’s because of the attitude and spirit of our PTA. We work together. We lift each other up. We align with Lipscomb’s motto: "Excellence not without effort." But I’d add: “not without friendship and support from each other.”
On August 7th, before Meet the Teacher, we’ll be having a Popsicle and Paletas event here at Lipscomb. This is a chance to come out, meet us, and enjoy some treats before the big night. Whether you’re a returning parent or brand new, we’re here to welcome you with open arms. You don’t have to be a member to stop by – just bring your kids and let’s get to know each other!
If you want to get involved, we’d love your help! The PTA is a lot more fun and impactful when everyone pitches in and contributes their energy to make Lipscomb what it is today. Here’s a form with our current needs – please take a look! We’d love to have you join us in making this year amazing.
We purposely keep our dues at $10 per person. We'd love to have you join this year. It's easy, just click below! I look forward to seeing and getting to know each of you more this year.
Sincerely,
Ryan Walton-King, PTA President
