Westwood Families~

Every great school is built with a strong team, and our families are an important part of that team! We are looking for parents and family members who would like to volunteer their time and help us continue building a welcoming, supportive school family. Volunteers make a tremendous difference in our building by supporting teachers, helping students, assisting with events, and providing an extra helping hand when it is needed. We are also looking for Spanish and Marshallese speaking family members who would be willing to serve as interpreters during our upcoming Student-Led Conferences. Your time and talents can help ensure that every family feels welcome, informed, and included in their child's school experience. If you are interested in volunteering or helping as an interpreter, please take a moment to complete the volunteer form below. Together, we can keep building something great, one connection, one family, and one story at a time!

No one measure or data point can define a student’s performance. ATLAS scores are one piece of the puzzle that tell parents whether their child has met grade-level standards. Enter your child’s information below to see your child’s ATLAS scores. Your child’s school can provide the 6-digit access code required to login to the portal where you can learn more about the ATLAS assessments and resources for your child.

One of our parents is part of a new breakfast/lunch place- Pearlsnap Picnic is in the Tyson Kitchen near the west entrance of the Jones Center. They offer light, health-conscious drinks, quick bites and a full espresso bar with a wide variety of smoothies and convenient grab-and-go food options. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They are doing a fundraiser for Westwood from now through Sept. 9; donations will go to helping us purchase things for recess.

Our School Day

  • Our office is open from 7:20 am to 4:00 pm. We open the doors to our building at 7:20 am and school starts right at 7:45 am. Dismissal is at 3:10 pm every day except Wednesday when we have early dismissal at 1:50 pm.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

    Car Riders:

    • If you have students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade, your students will need to be dropped off and picked up in the front of the building.

    • If you have students in grades 3rd-5th your students will need to be dropped off and picked up on the east side of the building.

    • If you have children in K-2 and 3-5, they will use the front car rider line.

    • For the safety of all students, please have their car tag hanging on the rear view mirror.

    • Teachers and support staff will be available to help students find their way to their classroom the first few days of school.

    • As you can see on the graph below, because of the construction taking place, we are getting a temporary drive.

    • Please be aware that the exit will continue to be a right turn only during arrival and dismissal time.

  • Students who are walkers or bike riders will follow the yellow walkway as shown on the graph above.

  • Students will stay on the sideway on McRay Ave and cross on the crosswalk closer to Dyer St.

  • We will continue to have a cross guard at the crosswalk.

  • We also ask that students and their families refrain from crossing in front of the building on McRay Ave.

  • Please do not cross McRay in the middle of the street. Make sure to use the crosswalk.

We will communicate with you as soon as these procedures change based on construction updates. We appreciate your patience as we work through all of these items on the first days of school. Our students' safety is our number one priority. We cannot do it without your help!

Parent/Family Information & Resource Center

How do I receive information from Westwood?

TEXTS: Click here to fill out a very short form that will add you to our text list. We use text messages to send out these weekly parent updates and reminders. We know texts are a convenient way to communicate for many of you, so please add yourself to the list by filling out this form. Multiple members of the same family can use it and each receive texts. If your phone number changes, you'll need to complete the form for your new number.

PHONE CALLS: We also send out phone calls through an automated system; you will receive these calls if your phone number is correct in Registration Gateway. If your number changes, you can update the information in Registration Gateway, or call the office to update.

SOCIAL MEDIA/WEBSITE: The weekly parent update and other announcements/stories are also posted on our school's Facebook page and website. We are working on activating our school's Instagram account also- we'll let you know when that's up and running.

PAPER NOTES: We also send out paper notes at times; most of these will be sent in folders that come home every Tuesday. Every now and then, we need to send information on other days, so it's a great practice to check the backpacks each afternoon/evening.

We don't want you to miss any information, so we put things out in lots of ways!
