Focus on Conflict Resolution
In our continued efforts to improve our school's climate and culture, we will spend the next several weeks focusing on conflict resolution skills and strategies across all grade levels. Students will work during the advisory period on lessons that provide opportunities and examples for conflict resolution in order to build skills that will help them navigate conflict in and outside of school. These lessons are built from a research-based program, "Wayfinder," provided by Baltimore County Public Schools.
Please view the letters below for more information.
Career Readiness Starts at Home!
We are excited to welcome our new Middle School Career Coach, Ms. McMillion. She will be working with students to connect them with information and skills needed for future career and college development.
Middle school is a great time for students to begin exploring their interests, discovering their strengths, and thinking about their future. Career readiness doesn’t mean choosing a career right now, it means building the skills and confidence students will need for success in any path they choose.
Parents, family members and caregivers can help! Take a few minutes this week to talk with your student about their interests, favorite subjects, hobbies, and goals. Ask questions like:
• When do you feel most confident, and what strengths or talents do you notice in yourself?
• Would you rather work on a team or work independently? Why?
• If you could shadow anyone at their job for a day, who would it be and what would you want to watch them do?
• Can you tell me about a time you faced a difficult problem and figured out a solution all by yourself?
Encourage your student to explore different career options and remind them that skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, and perseverance are important in every profession.
These simple conversations can spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students begin connecting what they learn in school to real-world opportunities. The future starts with a conversation, talk about it today!

Mind over Matters Campaign and the Virtual Calming Room
The Mind Over Matters campaign has been updated for the 2026-2027 school year.
Mind Over Matters is an ongoing initiative designed to raise awareness about mental health and promote wellness among students and staff at Baltimore County Public Schools. This year’s campaign is organized around themes aligned with the 5 Social Emotional Learning CASEL Competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
For more information, visit the BCPS Mind Over Matters Resouce portal.
The BCPS Virtual Calming Room is another great resource that can be used by students, staff, and families. The virtual calming room is a space for students, families, and staff to find tools and strategies for managing emotions and feelings, coping with stress, and having fun.
The virtual calming room is broken down into seven categories:
