PRINCIPAL'S POST WITH DR. WRIGHT
π¬ NHE Families!
The excitement continues at Nottingham as we prepare for another action-packed week of learning, creativity, and Knight pride! As we bring our βKnights, Camera, Action!β theme to life, our students continue to shine through meaningful classroom experiences, exciting adventures, and opportunities to grow academically and personally.
This week brings opportunities to celebrate healthy choices, creativity, and learning beyond the classroom. We look forward to another fantastic week with our Knights!
π Last Week at NHE β Learning, Adventures & Connections!
What a wonderful week at Nottingham! Our 2nd graders explored creativity at the Altharetta Art Museum, while our 3rd grade and SPED students enjoyed an exciting educational adventure at the Houston Zoo. We also captured plenty of Knight smiles during Fall Picture Day and strengthened our school-home partnerships through Parent-Teacher Conferences. Thank you to our families and staff for making these experiences meaningful and supporting our students' continued growth!
π§Ό Health & Wellness Reminder β Let's Keep Our Knights Healthy!
As we continue through the fall season, we have recently experienced an increase in student absences related to flu-like symptoms and stomach viruses. Keeping our students and staff healthy is a shared priority, and we appreciate your partnership in helping reduce the spread of illness.
A few important reminders:
π§Ό Wash hands frequently with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the restroom.
π€§ Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
π Keep students home when they are sick, particularly when experiencing a fever or vomiting.
π§ Encourage healthy habits, including adequate sleep, hydration, and nutritious meals.
𧽠Reinforce the importance of clean hands and good hygiene practices at home and school.
Students should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school. Healthy Knights are ready-to-learn Knights! Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy learning environment for everyone.
β This Week at a Glance
β€οΈ October 26β30 β Red Ribbon Week
It's Red Ribbon Week at Nottingham! Throughout the week, our Knights will participate in activities that promote healthy choices and positive decision-making.
This special week reinforces the importance of making responsible choices, building positive habits, and supporting one another. We encourage families to continue these important conversations at home as we work together to help our Knights make healthy, safe decisions!
ππ Friday, October 30 β Storybook Character Parade | 8:10 a.m.
Get ready for a morning filled with imagination, creativity, and storybook magic! Our annual Storybook Character Parade will begin promptly at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, October 30.
We cannot wait to see our Knights bring their favorite book characters to life! Kinder students only are encouraged to dress as their favorite storybook characters, celebrating the joy of reading and the wonderful stories that inspire us.
Important Parade Reminders:
π Kinder students only are welcome to dress as their favorite book characters.
π« Students are not allowed to have costume accessories or props, such as shields, swords, or similar items.
π¨βπ©βπ§ Parade attendance is limited to Kindergarten parents only.
π Please send a change of clothes if your child will need to change after the festivities.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to a fun, imaginative, and memorable celebration!
π Friday, October 30 β 5th Grade Field Trip
Our 5th grade Knights will visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Friday!
This exciting educational experience will allow our students to explore scientific concepts, spark curiosity, and make meaningful connections between classroom instruction and the world around them. We look forward to a fantastic day of discovery, exploration, and hands-on learning!
π Free & Reduced Lunch Application β Every Application Matters!
We continue to encourage all NHE families who have not yet applied to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. In addition to determining meal benefits for eligible families, completed applications help Nottingham qualify for Title I funding and resources that directly support our students.
Title I funding supports instructional programs, academic resources, student services, and additional personnel that directly benefit our Knights. We appreciate your support in securing these valuable opportunities for our students!
π¦ Annual Thanksgiving Lunch β November 18
Join us for our annual Thanksgiving Lunch on Wednesday, November 18! Tickets are $10 each and available in the front office through November 13.
Please arrive 10β15 minutes before your studentβs designated lunch time to receive a visitor badge. All visitors must enter and exit through the SPARK Park gate and depart when your studentβs lunch period ends. Weβre grateful for our NHE families and look forward to sharing this special time together!
π Arrival, Dismissal & Community Safety
Keeping our Knights and community safe remains a top priority! A few important reminders:
β‘οΈ Follow the designated traffic flow and do not drive the wrong way to bypass the car line.
πΈ Keep crosswalks completely clear while waiting in traffic.
π Avoid stopping in areas that block the crossing guard's visibility of students and pedestrians.
π² If your child rides a bike to or from school, please remind them to use designated pathways and avoid riding through the yards or private property of our community neighbors.
β€οΈ Please remain patient, alert, and courteous during arrival and dismissal.
Your cooperation helps ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone!
β The Knight Way
As we begin another exciting week, we encourage every Knight to continue demonstrating our 3 R's:
β Be Respectful
β Be Responsible
β Be Ready
We are proud of the learning, growth, and accomplishments happening across Nottingham. As we celebrate healthy choices, the joy of reading, and new learning adventures, let's continue making every day count!
Here's to another outstanding week of learning, achievement, and Knight pride!
Knights, Camera... Action! π¬

Dr. Wright

NHE is proud to celebrate and honor the veterans in our school community! If you have a veteran in your family, we invite them to join us for a special Veterans Day Breakfast and Parade, followed by a student performance recognizing their service and sacrifice on November 9, 2026 at 8:00-9:30 a.m. in the NHE Cafeteria. Kindly R.S.V.P. We look forward to honoring and celebrating our NHE veterans!
October Guidance Lessons
This month, NHE students are focusing on empathy and self-awareness by recognizing feelings, practicing self-care, and showing kindness to others. Families can reinforce these skills at home through simple conversations about respect, empathy, and asking for help when needed!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Throughout October, NHE students and staff are invited to wear pink every Wednesday for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Optional monetary donations may be made in the front office with proceeds benefiting MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dyslexia Awareness Month
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month! Dyslexia is a common learning difference that can affect reading, spelling, and writing, but it is not related to intelligence or effort. With early support, appropriate instruction, and encouragement at home and school, students with dyslexia can thrive.
Little People Awareness Month
October is Little People Awareness Month, a time to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for people with dwarfism. Green is the official awareness color! Dwarfism is a condition that causes short stature, generally an adult height of 4'10" or under, and there are more than 400 types. It affects bone growth, not intelligence or ability, and people with dwarfism lead full, active lives as students, professionals, athletes, parents, artists, and advocates. Families can help build awareness by using respectful language, celebrating differences, sharing positive and diverse role models, and encouraging empathy, accessibility, and inclusion for everyone.
ADHD Awareness Month
October is ADHD Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding and reduce stigma around this common neurodevelopmental condition. ADHD can affect attention, organization, self-control, impulsivity, and activity levels, and it may look different from one child to another. Children with ADHD can also show tremendous creativity, energy, curiosity, and the ability to focus deeply on things that interest them. Families can help by creating consistent routines, giving clear step-by-step directions, praising effort, and focusing on strengths. With understanding, encouragement, and the right support, children with ADHD can feel confident, capable, and empowered to thrive at school and at home.
