The Weekly Update 10/17/2025
School Announcements!
Attendance Counts!
Congratulations Tawanka! The building is doing a fantastic job with kids showing up to school. We are averaging over 96% of our Tawanka students in the building every day...that is AMAZING!
Halloween is Coming!
Halloween is coming and here at Tawanka there are a couple big reminders we like to share. Our PTO puts on a phenomenal Trunk or Treat but you must have a trunk to participate, see more later on. As a reminder about costumes: they are expected to be worn all day so please be comfortable and appropriate, no masks, no props, no weapons, no inflatables. Thank you.
Cold Weather Reminder
Fall is here and the leaves are dropping off the trees. The cold weather may impact the plants but it doesn't stop us from going outside for recess. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately to go outside all year long. If the temperature is too cold (below 25 degrees with wind chill) we will be indoors, but aside from cold or rain we try to get our students outside as much as possible. Make sure they have a jacket or hat as needed. It is even better if it is labeled so it doesn't get lost!
Huge Thank You to Raising Cane's
We want to give a big THANK YOU to Raising Cane’s for sponsoring our PBIS reward this month! Because of their generous support, our students were able to celebrate their positive behavior with an award and coupon for a free meal that made the day even more exciting.
At our school, we follow PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to help students learn and grow by being respectful, responsible, and safe every day. It's always wonderful to recognize those good choices, and Raising Cane’s helped us do just that!
Thank you again to our friends at Raising Cane’s for supporting our students and helping us celebrate their great behavior! Below is all of our Tawanka Token recipients from September...176 of them! If you own a local business and would be interested in sponsoring our Tawanka Tokens for the month, please reach out to Michelle Mannherz (MMannherz@neshaminy.org) or James Maloney (Jmaloney@neshaminy.org)
Pasta Dinner is Coming!

Need a Winter Jacket? Our School Can Help!
As the weather gets colder, it’s important for everyone to stay warm and safe during the winter months. Just a friendly reminder that we will go outside for recess even when it gets cold outside. We are thrilled to share that, thanks to the local Rotary, our school is able to help provide winter jackets for students who need them!
If your child is in need of a new (not used) warm winter jacket, please reach out to our school nurse. We’ll make sure they get the right size and have a cozy jacket ordered just for them.
We want every student to feel comfortable and ready for the season, no one should have to be cold this winter!
To request a jacket, contact the school nurse (Carol Alexis – Calexis@neshaminy.org) directly. We’re always here to help!
