Hello Woodstock Family!
It's hard to believe but tomorrow is the day! First through fifth graders will be heading back and the school will be alive with the sounds of our students catching up with friends and meeting new teachers! This is a transition time for all of us as we get back into routines and start a new year. 📝⏰
Keep your eyes out for a couple of improvements that have been made to the campus. 🚲👀
We hope you will join us for some upcoming community building events including the Kindergarten Welcome Breakfast and the Back to School Popsicle Party. We can't wait to connect! See below for details. 🌞
Please take a moment to review the traffic circulation information in the Walk & Roll section below. This will help make drop off and pick up go smoothly while ensuring the safety of everyone. 🚸
Welcome back, Woodstock! 💙🦁

Walk & Roll Committee
Bike Bus - Updated Maps and Start Times
Bike Buses encourage biking by creating designated routes to school that children and their families can join along the way. For families commuting to Woodstock School, you can join a Bike Bus by parking at the start of the route or anywhere along the way. Please check the updated Bike Bus map, as the routes and start times may have changed for your route. Bike Buses will roll every Friday, starting on the first Friday of school (August 28th).
Ready to roll with us? Join the Bike Bus WhatsApp Group for the route closest to you: Northside WhatsApp Group and the SE 60th/Carlton WhatsApp Group.
Woodstock Walk & Roll Fair - Save the Date
Join us for the 3rd Annual Woodstock Walk & Roll Fair after school on Friday, September 18th from 2:30–5:30 pm at the Traffic Playground (north west side of school). There will be a quick fix-bike repair station, helmet fitting station, bike safety and skills station, a free raffle, and more! We will have free helmets, snacks, and bike decorations while supplies last. This event is supported by Metro and hosted by the Woodstock School PTA Walk & Roll Committee.
New Bike Shelters at Woodstock School
The Woodstock PTA Walk & Roll Committee was awarded a grant from Metro to build two bike shelters at Woodstock School. The shelters were built this summer and the two new bike racks will be installed soon. Thank you Metro for supporting our efforts to get more families biking to school. And a very big thanks to the Woodstock family-owned Kobax Construction and 52nd Avenue Hardware for all your help with this project.
Traffic Safety
Woodstock Elementary families please take a look at the traffic circulation map to help keep pedestrians and cyclists safe and traffic flowing smoothly during arrival and dismissal.
Walking, Biking, and Rolling to School: PBOT has prioritized SE Harold and SE Ellis for walking, biking, and rolling to school. Please use alternate routes if you are driving and follow the directional blue arrows on the circulation map.
Bus Zone: Avoid parking or stopping on the corner of SE Harold and SE 50th Street as this makes it extremely difficult for school buses to make it to the bus zone safely. No parking or stopping in the bus zone, find an alternate location to drop off your students, such as SE Reedway, Woodstock Park, or one of the Park and Walk locations.
Park and Walk: These are low stress areas around the school that you can park and then walk your children to school. This helps make it safer at arrival and dismissal by reducing traffic on the streets closest to the school.
5- Minute Drop-off or Pick-up Area: this is a 5-minute driver must remain at wheel parking zone on SE Reedway Street between SE 49th and SE 50th Avenues. This space is intended for quick drop-off or pick-up and not to be used as temporary parking. When dropping-off or picking-up students on SE Reedway Street, avoid stopping in the road or attempting to make U-turn.
Yellow Curbs Mean No Parking: PBOT painted the curbs around Woodstock School in the spring to improve traffic safety for everyone traveling to school. Do not park where the curbs are painted yellow. Not even for a few seconds as it makes it harder to see children and families crossing the street.
