LEWIS ELEMENTARY NEWS

"DID YOU KNOW?"
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. “Did you know?" We have 25 school days left before summer break! Our community was hit by a stomach virus the week of Art Night so we’re all practicing healthy habits — hand washing, coughing into elbows, cleaning surfaces, etc. Please bring your child to school every day they are healthy so they can have a strong finish to the year. Consistent attendance is important for students in all grades but particularly for our 3rd-5th graders who are taking the state tests to “show what they know” in reading, writing, math, and science. Last year, we cross-checked our state test data with attendance and 50% of students who didn’t reach grade-level benchmarks had low attendance.

Todays memory:
Birdie loved the bars. She would spend her whole recess flipping her body around on the bar and swinging off the bar in different variations. Towards the end of the year, she was becoming more daring and try swinging on the bars with just her knees hooked over the bar. This always brought a smile to her face. -Ms. Aksay
"A hummingbird is sacred in many cultures, always symbolizing good luck, joy, and beauty."

Lewis Field Crew
Over Spring Break, folks may have noticed some activity on the Lewis field. Thanks to Michael Bendixen, Brian Koffler, Benny Nelson and Tye Ortega the field was aerated and seeded with many bags of trash picked up along the way. The Lewis field and playground are such an important part of our community, what a gift to have parents invested in keeping our field in better repair. Interested in joining the field crew?
