2nd Grade Newsletter
January 6 - 9
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
We had a wonderful last week of December with your amazing kids! Students worked incredibly hard while also enjoying lots of holiday fun. It was so special to see their excitement, creativity, and joy as we wrapped up the semester together.
π Math
This week, we reviewed telling time and clocks, along with measurement and 2D and 3D shapes. Students applied their math skills in a fun and festive way by creating 3D gingerbread houses, using math vocabulary to describe shapes and attributes. Ask your child to tell you what shapes they used!
π ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
Students proudly presented their state research projects to the class. They worked hard to organize their information, speak clearly, and share fun facts with confidence. It was wonderful to see how much they have grown as readers, writers, and presenters this semester.
πΊοΈ Social Studies
In social studies, we learned about the positives and negatives of modifying the environment. Students discussed how people change their surroundings and the impact those changes can have on the world around us.
π Science
This week in science, we explored wind and learned just how strong and powerful it can be. Students enjoyed discussing how wind affects weather, land, and our daily lives.
π Semester Reflection
This first semester has truly been amazing. We are so proud of the hard work, growth, and enthusiasm each student has shown. The 2nd grade teachers have loved every moment and cannot wait to see these wonderful students again in 2026!
