Arrival & Dismissal Arrival & Dismissal

Please remember that students should NOT be dropped off or picked up in the school parking lot. For everyone’s safety, families should use the car loop lines for arrival and dismissal, and parents must accompany their students through the designated crosswalks.

Students that are Independant Walker/Bikers can meet their parents along the fence on Berkeley Parkway or next to the THE sign. Student pick up outside the Launch Pad doors is used for parents giving their Silent Dismissal number for pickup.

With the weather turning and it being darker outside, please remember to be cautious while traveling and staying within the speed limit in the school zone. We have many families that walk/scooter/ride bikes and we want everyone to get back and forth to school safely.

Thank you for helping us keep our arrival and dismissal procedures safe and orderly. You can review our procedures here: ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL 26/27

Fall Conferences Fall Conferences

Parent-student-teacher conferences are a great way to connect with and understand students better. These meetings provide a platform for teachers to work with parents and students and reflect on student's interests, performances and progress. Conferences empower students to identify, plan and set their own learning goals. Conferences focus on learning, although behavior and social concerns might be discussed. The teacher will review your child's progress, including strengths and areas in need of improvement.

Teachers have already sent out the conference sign ups through Parent Square, please sign up for a day and time to attend your student's conference.

Attendance Updates and Dismissal Changes Attendance Updates and Dismissal Changes

All dismissal changes and attendance updates must be made through the front office, not to your classroom teachers as they are unable to make dismissal changes or update attendance.

Families can report student absences and dismissal changes the following ways:

  • calling 253-891-6530 and leaving a message on the attendance line (press 2)
  • emailing the@sumnersd.org
  • Parent Square messages to Kerstin Solis and Tracy Hartness

Late Arrivals/Early Dismissals: please sign your student in on the student check-in/check-out computer located in the vestibule.

  • Dismissal changes must be communicated to the office by 3:15pm.
  • Our office is closed from 3:15-3:45pm each day to ensure a safe dismissal for all students.

Please only report each absence once - no need to submit multiple notices. If your student arrives late, you will still receive a message from Parent Square—there is no need to report the absence again as you signed them in on the student check-in/check-out computer already.

All absences will be entered into our attendance system by the end of each school day. You can review your student’s attendance anytime through your Family Access account on Skyward.

Attire for Recess Attire for Recess

As the weather is changing, we wanted to send a friendly reminder that Trailblazers have outdoor recess rain or shine. Since the weather in Tehaleh can change quickly, please make sure your child comes prepared each day with a coat that has a hood. Please write names in coats so they don't end up in our Lost & Found!

We do have a covered space available, but many students enjoy being outside with their coats on, running around, and getting fresh air—even on rainy days! Thank you for helping your child be prepared for a fun and successful recess!

THE Lost & Found THE Lost & Found

Are you wondering where your students new school coat or sweatshirt have disappeared to? Remind your students to check the lost and found before or after school, or during lunch/recess. It's always a good idea to write your student's name in/on their item(s) so we can return them to their owners.
