Warrior Connection - February 8

I’ve been enjoying watching the Olympics, and there is something powerful about seeing a country come together to cheer for one another while witnessing the strength, determination, and perseverance of the athletes. The Olympic motto—Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together—is a great reminder of what we are working toward as Warriors at West Minico: growing stronger together through effort, teamwork, and commitment.

This week, we are excited to celebrate our Checkpoint Zero reward. Students who submitted all required work by February 5 and have no zeros will enjoy games, fun activities, and time with friends. Students who did not qualify due to missing work will be assigned to a classroom where they will use that time to complete outstanding assignments. Student success starts with completing work and turning it in on time, and building these habits now is key to long-term success.

Please note that there is no school on Monday, February 16, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Although Valentine’s Day is not a school day, if any deliveries or gifts occur, they must still follow the Valentine’s guidelines outlined below. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a positive and respectful school environment.

As we begin Random Acts of Kindness week, we encourage students and families to look for simple, meaningful ways to show kindness—at school, at home, and in our community. Small acts truly can make a big difference.

🌹💌 Valentine's Day Reminders for West Minico 💌🌹

Valentine’s Day is almost here! 🎉 To keep things fun, safe, and focused, here are a few things to know about deliveries and exchanges on February 12:

🚫 No Balloons: Balloons aren’t allowed at school. Deliveries with balloons will be turned away.

📦 Deliveries: Items delivered to school will be handed out at the end of the day to avoid classroom disruptions.

🚌 Glass Containers: No glass containers (like vases) are allowed on school buses.

🎁 Student Exchanges: If exchanged items cause a disruption, they’ll be held in the office until the end of the day.

To support students in staying caught up academically, West Minico is implementing Checkpoint #1: “No Zeros.” Students who have no missing assignments and no zeros in any class by Thursday, February 6 will earn a school reward on Thursday, February 12.

This incentive is designed to help students build strong habits early in the semester. It is not about perfect grades—it is about responsibility and completing assigned work. Students who do not meet the requirement will use the reward time to work on missing assignments with teacher support.

We appreciate your partnership in encouraging students to turn work in on time and check grades regularly.

Being at school every day matters. When students show up consistently, they stay connected to learning, build strong routines, and feel a greater sense of belonging at school. Each day missed is a missed opportunity to learn, ask questions, and grow alongside peers. Good attendance builds habits that support academic success, responsibility, and confidence.
