The annual JOM Book Fair took place from October 5 to October 12. Each JOM student in grades PK-8 received up to $15 to spend on books at the book fair! We thank Mrs. Spivey, Ms. Elisha, and Mrs. Darbi for making this annual event successful! Wado!

Native American Studies & Cherokee
Cherokee
Our Cherokee Language students continue to make excellent progress! Students have now learned to read, write, and recognize over 40 Cherokee syllabary symbols and have successfully completed four syllabary tests, demonstrating their growing knowledge and understanding of the language. Students recently completed their "People" unit and will soon begin learning Cherokee vocabulary related to animals. Looking ahead, students are excited to welcome representatives from Cherokee Nation for a special classroom visit, where they will have the opportunity to learn the traditional art of Cherokee basket weaving!
Native American Studies
October was a busy and exciting month for Native American Studies! Students worked in groups to research one of the Seven Cherokee Clans and created presentations to share their findings with classmates. Students have also begun Unit 3: Early Trade Era, where they will explore the introduction of trade in early Cherokee societies. Looking ahead, students are excited to welcome representatives from Cherokee Nation for a special classroom visit, where they will have the opportunity to learn the traditional art of Cherokee basket weaving!
Cherokee Club
Cherokee Challenge Bowl and Art Competition
Our students had an outstanding showing at this year's Cherokee Challenge Bowl! We took seven teams competing across Divisions 1–4, bringing home four 1st-place finishes, one 2nd-place finish, one 3rd-place finish, and one 4th-place finish! We are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work, dedication, and willingness to take the initiative to learn more about their Cherokee culture and heritage. It is inspiring to see our students embrace their cultural identity and make it a meaningful part of their lives. Congratulations to all our teams on a job well done!
