On Friday, October 31st students are welcome to dress up to celebrate the fall spirit for Harvest Day. Masks of any sort and full-face paint are not permitted. Any costume accessory that resembles a weapon is not permitted.

We will celebrate Harvest Day with a parade. Families are welcome to watch the parade, which will begin around 2:00 and take place outside. Following the parade, students will return to class for classroom harvest fun.

Families are welcome to attend and watch the parade. We ask that spectators arrive no earlier than 1:45 PM. Parking is available in the lot/field in front of the building. No vehicles are permitted past the building.

Classroom helpers pre-arranged with teachers must sign in with the main office following the parade by entering the building through the front door. Please reach out to your student's teacher to arrange. We will have pre-arranged visitor badges ready (similar to field day).

Early dismissals will go through the main office as usual. Please enter through the front door and buzz in.

Hello Parents and Students

This year we will be expanding our Science and Learning Fair to include other aspects of STEM…It will be a STEM Showcase!

All students (K-5th grades) are encouraged to build, design, experiment, create, and explore with a STEM project of their choice. Students can work independently or in a team of up to three students. Students can conduct an experiment for their project as we have done in the past, but we are also giving students the opportunity to showcase other types of STEM projects.

What is STEM? What kind of project can I do?

  • S is for Science – test a chemical reaction, conduct an experiment, build a model, research an idea
  • T is for Technology – program a robot, code a game, create an animation, design a futuristic gadget
  • E is for Engineering – build a prototype, construct a LEGO model, invent something unique
  • M is for Math – find patterns in nature, design a game based on probability, create an art project using symmetry, try a recipe for slime

The possibilities are endless! Use your imagination and have fun with STEM!

The first step is simple. I am asking that you complete the Interest Form by November 7th. Once I receive your Interest Form, I will send home additional information and resources.

The projects will arrive at school on Monday, January 12th. Presentations will take place during that week, and there will be an Open House on Thursday, January 15th at 6:30 pm.

Please email me if you have any questions. I can’t wait to see this year’s projects!

Elizabeth Bennett (bennette@casdschools.org) KHS STEM Showcase Coordinator

P.S. For students in 4th and 5th grade: If you are interested in competing in the Chester County Science and Research Competition, there are specific guidelines you will need to follow. Please talk to Ms. Bennett about this ASAP if this is something you are interested in.
