Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Families,
I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Spring Break! Whether you traveled, spent time with loved ones, or just took a well-deserved break, I hope it was refreshing. Now, we’re back and heading into the final grading period of the school year—the home stretch!
As we move toward the end of the year, our students are expected to master key skills outlined in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Here’s a brief look at what your child should know by the end of the year:
- Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Building strong reading foundations, understanding number relationships, and developing problem-solving skills.
- 3rd – 5th Grade: Applying critical thinking in reading and math, mastering multiplication and division, and strengthening writing skills.
Your partnership is essential in ensuring student success. Here’s how you can help:
✅ Ensure your child is at school every day. Attendance is key to finishing the year strong!
✅ Read with your child daily. Encourage conversations about what they’re reading.
✅ Practice math fluency. Simple activities like flashcards, problem-solving, or real-life math applications help reinforce skills.
✅ Stay connected with your child’s teacher. Communication is crucial as we work together to support their progress.
Let’s finish this year strong together! Thank you for all that you do to support our Hirsch Hawks. Let’s make these last few months the best yet!
Sincerely,
Principal Patterson

Shout out to the following students for representing Hirsch Elementary School!
Congratulations to our 5th grade students, who earned a special trip to the Downtown Aquarium for their performance on the Benchmark Interim Assessments. This is a practice STAAR test that all 3rd-5th graders took in February. The grade level with the most students at the Meets and Masters level earned a special field trip. We're so proud of our 5th graders!
Let's Hear It For Our Teachers!
Last week we honored three incredible staff members for their hard work and contribution to our school and students.
Teacher of the Year: Ms. Joseph (5th Grade)

Attendance Matters!
Attendance is so important for student success. Hirsch Elementary is committed to encouraging students to come to school everyday. Each grade level is participating in weekly and monthly attendance contests to see who has the highest attendance. Classes and grade levels with the highest attendance will get a reward! Everyday attendance equals everyday success. Thank you for partnering with us for your child's success.
