Parking Lot Traffic Flow and Expectations
Arrival and dismissal can be busy and stress for everyone - students, families, and staff. We appreciate your patience, kindness, and cooperation as we work together to keep our parking lot safe and traffic moving smoothly. We encourage our 2nd - 6th grade families to utilize the car pick-up line.
A few important reminders:
- Stay alert and avoid distractions such as cell phones. Be on the lookout for people walking through the lot.
- Please refrain from smoking, loud music, or inappropriate language in the parking lot.
- Enter the Disney parking lot from the north (heading up Kelly from Penrod) and exit to the south (toward Faulman).
- The loop by the main office is reserved for buses only during arrival and dismissal and should not be used for student drop-off or pick-up.
- Do not stop, park, or exit your vehicle wile in the pickup lane
- Students must enter/exit vehicle from the passenger side.
- If parking, please use indicated cross walks.
- Please follow all posted parking and traffic procedures when entering, parking, and exiting the lot.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, calm, and positive start and end to each school day!

September is Attendance Awareness Month
Chronic absenteeism is considered a hidden educational crisis in the U.S. According to Attendance Works, research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.
Children with good attendance (9 or fewer days absent per year) typically:
- Maintain quality friendships
- Are less anxious about school
- Are more confident
- Are higher achieving
- GRADUATE!
- Experience success in the work force and in LIFE!
Throughout this first month of school, strive for your child to have perfect attendance (unless, of course, your child falls ill). Work with your child to set a regular bedtime, develop morning routines that will help set them up for success, develop backup plans for getting to school, and schedule non-emergency appointments and extended vacations when schools not in-session. If your child is feeling anxious/nervous to attend school, reach out to the school for help; it's important students attend school everyday unless they are truly sick.
Remember, all absences count toward chronic absenteeism, even if you call the attendance line or provide documentation. In Fraser, we continue to work hard to decrease chronic absenteeism- which in turn benefits ALL students!
PTO Sponsored Student Class Shirts
Each year, our PTO provides one class shirt for all students free of charge. To help ensure we place an accurate order, please take a moment to fill out the below link with your students name, teacher, and t-shirt size. This form should be completed for each student in your family. You may also order additional shirts if you choose.
Technology Agreement - All Kindergarten & New Families MUST Complete
Students will be receiving their iPad soon after the beginning of the school year. Technology Agreements need to be on file for all students before they receive their iPad and chargers. The current technology agreement on file will determine if students bring their iPads home or keeps it at school. Technology Agreements can be updated at any time if you would like to change your student’s opt-in/opt-out status.
If you have a kindergarten student, are new to Disney, or if you would like to change your students opt-out status, please fill out the Technology Agreement linked below. As a reminder, students will NOT receive an iPad without a completed technology agreement on file.
Students who have Technology Agreements that are Opt-Out will keep their iPad at school. No charger will be assigned as it will be charged at night at school. If your student is an Opt-In and you do not need a charger at home, please e-mail Mrs. Bookmiller and a charger will not be assigned to your student.
Please mail Mrs. Bookmiller at Candice.Bookmiller@fraserk12.org if you have any additional questions regarding student iPads.
Student Data Verification Sheet
All students will be sent home with a Data Verification Card on Monday. Please fill this form out and return it ASAP so we have this important information to update our contacts in our system. The form is bright YELLOW. All forms should be submitted no later than Wednesday, September 9th.
Please reach out to our Main Office at 439-6400 with questions.
Red Flag Outside Indicates Indoor Lineup
When the red flag is hung outside our front doors, this means indoor line-up. Students only can enter the building thru the main door (door #1) as well as the back door (door #18) starting at 8:20 AM.
Please utilize the car drop-off line and students will enter in the back of the building (door #18). If your child needs assistance, please park in a parking spot and walk your child to the main entrance (door #1). Student drop off is NOT allowed in the bus loop during indoor lineup.
Fraser Wireless Communication Policy
As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share the student cell phone and personal device expectations in Fraser Public Schools.
In accordance with state law and Fraser Public Schools policy, students may not use personal wireless communication devices during the school day while on school grounds. This is consistent with our past practices at the elementary buildings.
What does this mean for elementary students?
Students may bring a device to school, but it must remain turned off, stored away, and out of sight during the school day. This includes cell phones, smartwatches and smart glasses, earbuds and headphones, personal tablets and any device that can text, call, access the internet, take photos or videos, send email, or provide entertainment.
Are there exceptions?
Yes. Exceptions may be made for medically necessary devices, school-issued devices, approved instructional use and IEP or 504 accommodations.
What happens if a student has a device out?
If a student has a device out during instructional time, they will be asked to put it away. If needed, staff may secure the device in a designated, secure location until the end of the school day.
Discipline will not be issued simply because a student has a device out. Consequences may be assigned if a student refuses to follow the expectation or repeatedly fails to comply with the policy. Our goal is to respond in a safe, reasonable, and consistent manner while helping students develop responsible technology habits.
How can families help?
We ask for your partnership as we make this transition. Before the school year begins, please talk with your student about keeping personal devices put away during the school day and the importance of following staff directions.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide a focused, safe, and positive learning environment for every Fraser student.
Dress Code Reminders
As a reminder, our dress code is a district policy, which is accessible as part of our Student Code of Conduct. The purpose of our dress code is to make sure that our students are dressed for learning success. Parents will be called to bring a change of clothing when students do not follow the district policy. Below are some of the most pertinent dress code guidelines. The following types of clothing are inappropriate for school and WILL NOT BE ALLOWED :
- Hats, caps, hoods, bandannas, or other head coverings
- See-through clothing or clothing that reveals students’ midriffs, bottoms, or undergarments
- Shorts, skirts and dresses shorter than the tip of the student’s index finger when arms are hanging down.
- Clothes or accessories displaying offensive words and symbols including those related to alcohol, illegal/controlled substances, tobacco products, weapons, sexual references and/or language disruptive to the educational process.
- Beach-type footwear with exposed toes that can be dangerous during recess play. Sandals with heel straps are allowed.

Tribal Affiliation
In Michigan, schools are required to collect certain student information, such as enrollment, demographics, and program participation, and share it with the Michigan Department of Education. This process is required by state and federal law and helps monitor publicly funded education programs.
A new rule in the State School Aid Act now requires schools to also collect information about students’ tribal affiliations. This change was developed with input from Tribal Nations in Michigan.
Starting this school year, families have the option to share tribal affiliation information. Sharing this information is completely voluntary.
The data will help strengthen communication with Tribal Nations and may allow schools to qualify for additional funding to better support Indigenous students.
If a family chooses to share this information, it will be protected under privacy laws such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), which also prohibits discrimination.
If you would like to report your tribal affiliation, please complete the below form by October 7th.
The Second Step Social & Emotional Learning Curriculum K-8
Now more than ever we need to address the whole child. Best practice shows that students who feel safe and secure are better prepared to engage in their learning. Therefore, we are excited to continue to use Second Step in our K-8 classes beginning this week to further strengthen our commitment to social and emotional learning.
Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with various social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons will build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Twain to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
Unit 1 Home Links for grades K-5 can be found linked below.

Thank you to everyone that attended our Title One Parent Meeting this week. Below you will find a copy of our presentation, Parent Compact and Family Engagement Plan for to review. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Wangelin via email: Brandi.Wangelin@fraserk12.org
Does your child have medical needs?
If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office prior to the start of school. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets. In addition, if your child has a medical plan, it will need to be updated for the 25-26 school year.
Please find medication forms linked below for your convenience.
