A note from Dr. Burdett, 8/9/26 A note from Dr. Burdett, 8/9/26

Bobcat Nation,

Welcome to another incredible year at Celina High School! We are excited to partner with our students, families, and community as we begin a new year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and make a lasting impact together.

Everything we do is guided by our District Core Principles of Stewardship, Leadership, Innovation, Community, and Excellence and anchored in our District Motto:

Love the Learner; Drive Rigor

To our Bobcat families, thank you for sharing your amazing kids with us. We truly believe they are the very best, and it is an incredible honor to walk alongside them during these formative years. We never take lightly the trust you place in us, and we are committed to loving your children, challenging them to reach their fullest potential, and helping them become young men and women of character. The strongest schools are built on strong partnerships, and we are grateful to stand arm in arm with you as we encourage, support, and celebrate our students together. There is no greater privilege than serving your family and helping your child discover the impact they are capable of making in this world.

Serving as the principal of Celina High School is one of the greatest privileges of my life. I look forward to partnering with you as we make this an unforgettable year for every student.

For kids,

John

Student ID Badges & Minga Student ID Badges & Minga

At Celina High School, the safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment, all students will be required to wear their student ID badge on a lanyard throughout the school day.

The school will provide every student with a CHS lanyard, although students are welcome to wear their own school-appropriate lanyard if they prefer.

This year, we will begin using Minga, the same student ID system successfully implemented at Moore Middle School. In addition to serving as a visible form of identification, Minga provides several important benefits that enhance both safety and the student experience:

  • Improves campus safety and security by allowing staff to quickly identify who belongs on campus and recognize students who may need assistance.

  • Recognizes and celebrates positive behavior by giving us another way to acknowledge the outstanding choices that the vast majority of our students make every day.

  • Supports student learning by allowing us to efficiently identify and invite students to tutorials, interventions, enrichment opportunities, and other CATS activities designed to help them succeed.

  • Protects instructional time by helping reduce unnecessary movement throughout the building and discouraging students from leaving class to congregate with friends during instruction.

This initiative is not about adding rules for the sake of rules. It is about creating an environment where students are safe, engaged, and focused on learning while ensuring that every Bobcat is known, supported, and celebrated.

Together, we will continue to build a campus culture where every student feels connected, every classroom is protected, and every minute of learning matters.

HOSA

Celina HOSA Students Shine on the International Stage
This summer, three members of the Celina High School HOSA chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference (ILC), the largest HOSA event in the world. The conference brought together thousands of students from all 50 states and U.S. territories, as well as participants from Canada, China, Mexico, South Korea, Vietnam, Italy, and Germany.

Representing Celina High School were Rohan Narra (Sophomore), Abhijaikrishna Raghuraman (Freshman), and Alexcia Foncham. Competing against the best Health Science students from around the globe, Rohan Narra and Abhijaikrishna Raghuraman earned an outstanding achievement by placing among the Top 10 Finalists in the International Forensic Science competition.

The Celina High School HOSA organization is in its second year of existence and is led by Health Science teacher and HOSA advisor Steffanie Palmisano-Lopez. In just two years, the chapter has experienced tremendous growth and success, providing students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore healthcare careers, and compete at the highest levels of HOSA.

Congratulations to our amazing HOSA students for representing Celina High School with excellence on HOSA’s largest stage. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve in the future!
