Holy Rosary School Derby

Busy week next week at Holy Rosary and it all has a lot to do with BOOKS. Our annual Book Fair will be held in the Multi-purpose Room, with proceeds supporting the purchase of new books for our Library and classrooms. Families will be able to come and purchase books before school on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th August from 7.35 to 7.50am, or after school on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th August from 2.30 - 3.30pm. This year payment options will be card or cash.

Our Book Week Dress Up Parade takes place on Thursday 21st August and starts at 8.30am in our Undercover Area. Families are encouraged to attend to support their child and join in the fun of the parade.

Please can I ask that families DO NOT allow children to bring special items to school, unless for specific news telling which will be organised by the classroom teacher. There have been a few issues across the school with items and it is not a staff responsibility to look after these items during the day (unless organised by the classroom teacher). Any toys or equipment required for children to use during the day will be supplied by the school.

Head lice - please can families regularly check their children's head for head lice and treat as soon as lice is identified. Any child that has shoulder length hair MUST have all hair pulled up and away from their face (we do not encourage half up hair styles). hair may need to be treated more regularly to break the head lice cycle and a reminder that all bedding or fabric such as on lounge chairs, should be treated to assist in the breaking of the cycle.

Families please put AUGUST 17th into your calendar as there will be a Mass at the Bungarun cemetery at 10.00am. Bishop Tim will be officiating with Fr Steve and people from Broome will also be joining our community. There will also be a shared lunch afterwards, families are asked to bring a plate of cold finger food (such as sandwiches) to share. Tea and coffee will be available during lunch but all other drinks will need to be brought with you.

Bungarun Pilgrimage and Mass Sunday, 17th August. 10.00am. Shared lunch to follow at Holy Rosary in the Undercover area. Families are asked to bring a plate of cold finger food such as sandwiches to share. There will be a sharing of stories after the lunch.

We have new stock of royal blue zip up jumpers in the office. We have a limited range of sizes so get in quick to secure your child's size before more cold weather kicks in. Jumpers are available from the Admin for $18 each.

A reminder to families that crocs and thongs are not appropriate footwear for students from Year 1 - 6. All students from Year 1 - 6 are required to wear shoes each day or they will not be permitted to play. We understand that it can be difficult to get new shoes in town but request that families minimise the wearing of the wrong shoes to school. We thank you for your support.

Please ensure that the school is supplied with a current medical action plan for your child, if they need one. Parents are required to provide the school with a new plan if that changes throughout the year.

It is essential for Health Care Card holders to complete the necessary form immediately to be eligible for the school fee discount. Please come into the Admin to provide details at the start of the new school year.

All Health care Cards MUST be current so if yours has expired please come in and provide the updated details to Miss Jenna in Admin.

The School Advisory Council welcomes any families interested. Expressions of interested currently being accepted in the Admin for any family wishing to join. We are currently looking for volunteers as we do not have enough members for a quorum.
