Fire Drill on October 8 - Notice to Families!
This message is to inform you of an upcoming fire drill scheduled for October 8. Normally, we do not notify families in advance of fire drills. However, this drill will be more involved than usual, so we want to keep you informed. Over the past several years, the Nashua School District has partnered with the Nashua Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, and Police Department to strengthen our unified command practices and overall emergency preparedness. As part of this effort, the upcoming drill will include a simulated emergency response by the Nashua Fire Department.
Here’s what to expect:
Fire apparatus will arrive at the school as if responding to an actual fire alarm.
Firefighters will simulate responding to a “fire” in the building. (This is only a simulation—there will be no actual fire.)
Fire crews will pull hoses from the trucks and bring them into the school, while school and city command staff coordinate the response, including accountability for all students and staff.
For your child, nothing will change from a normal fire drill. Students will calmly exit the building with their teachers and remain outside until the drill concludes.
We appreciate your support as we continue to provide students and staff with a safe, well-prepared learning environment.
Plan Your October!
As we head into the second half of October, I wanted to share a few important dates and reminders with our Mustang families.
Monday, October 12: There will be no school in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. Nashua Public Schools will be closed.
Wednesday, October 21: We will have an early release day. Please remember that there will be no late buses or after-school activities on this day.
Thursday, October 22 & Wednesday, October 28: We will hold our parent-teacher conferences by appointment. I encourage families to take this opportunity to connect with their student’s team, check in on their progress, celebrate their successes, and talk about ways we can continue to support their growth. We value the partnership between our school and families, and these conversations are an important part of keeping that connection strong.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students and our school community!

Club and Activities Update
There are many opportunities for students to get involved, meet new people, and explore their interests this fall! We are excited to offer a variety of clubs and activities for students to participate in throughout the school year.
Mrs. Pires is looking for students who are interested in joining the Dungeons & Dragons Club. Interest forms are available in the library for students to complete. The club meeting date will be determined based on the availability of the students who express interest.
We are also exploring the possibility of developing a Math Counts group. Students who are interested can fill out an interest form located in the main office. We will use the responses to determine the level of student interest and plan next steps.
ASL Club is a welcoming group where students can learn American Sign Language, practice communication skills, and learn about Deaf culture. Students will have fun learning new signs, participating in activities, and building connections with others. ASL Club will meet on Mondays on October 5, October 19, October 26, November 2, November 9, November 16, November 23, November 30, and December 7.
Robotics Club and STEAM Team will provide students with opportunities to explore engineering, technology, creativity, and problem-solving. Robotics Club meets on Tuesdays from 3:00–5:00 p.m. Students will work together to design, build, and program robots while developing teamwork and engineering skills. The Robotics Team is our competition team. On Wednesdays, the STEAM Team will meet after school until the late bus. Students will explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on activities, creative challenges, experiments, and collaborative projects.
Student Council meets on Thursdays in Room D217. Students interested in leadership, school activities, and helping make a positive difference in our school community are encouraged to attend. They will also be meeting during Wednesday Advisories so that all students can participate.
Any student who is interested in joining Ski Club should go to Room D114 to get information about the club and how to sign up. Sign ups are until December 11.
Although the school day ends at 2:43 pm, each teacher has at least one regular afternoon session each week. This is an opportunity to get caught up on work you've missed or to get help with work you don't understand. Make-up sessions start no later than 2:43 PM and last until 3:25 PM. A late bus pass may be issued for those students in after school help sessions - the bus comes at 4:15pm.
