Weekly Eagle Update

September 20th - 24th

Weekly EagleUpdateSeptember 20th - 24th

Hello BOES Families!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Thank you to all of our parents who attended our first PTA General Association last Thursday. We are really excited about all of the programs and opportunities that our PTA is able to provide for our students this year.

In just two short weeks, parent volunteers will be allowed back on campus. That means that our AMAZING art docent program can begin!!! A huge shout out to Lisa Lomax and Margaret Simpson, our two art docent coordinators, that were fiercely determined to continue this program despite all of the obstacles that COVID threw their way. They have been working tirelessly to get the program ready by October 4th. Our art rooms are BEAUTIFUL and we cannot wait to see our students in them happily creating away! Lastly, thank you to all of our art docents who have volunteered to teach art this year. We could not do it without you!

Have a great week!

Mad Science

We are thrilled to be offering Mad Science free of charge this year to our students. This class takes place before school from 8:05-8:55 every Tuesday for 4 weeks (10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26) in the school auditorium. This session will be offered to 1st and 2nd graders only. Class space is limited to 30 students so we will have a lottery system to determine which students will get a space. We will be offering the class again in January and March so that more of our students get an opportunity to participate. Please fill out the form below if you would like your student entered into the lottery for a spot this upcoming month. We currently have 12 spots left!

A Message from PTA

Thursday we had our first General Association Meeting. Thank you to those of you that joined us! Our next one is scheduled for November 18 and I am hoping we will be able to resume our in person meetings for that one. Keep an eye out for future announcements about exact time and location.

Our first book fair was an absolutely huge success. We are still tabulating the total amount of proceeds from all of the sales, but early calculations are nearly double what we have done in the past. Not only do our little readers get their hands on new books but the fair also generates revenue that is returned to the school for purchasing a wide assortment of educational products. It really is a win-win event. Thank you to Norma Apodaca for her outstanding effort organizing and running this event!

Exciting things are beginning to come together this year. I am pleased to announce that we are officially bringing Literature Comes to Life back to campus after a substantial hiatus. This interactive and engaging assembly has been a hit with students, teachers and families in Alpine for a long time. We have also signed an agreement with APEX to have them return this year for their leadership training and the Fun Run. They will be on campus November 29 through December 10.

Our parking lot raffle has concluded. Thank you to those of you that supported the raffle and purchased tickets. The funds raised will help cover some of the costs associated with our programs for the year, helping us meet our mission. I would like to thank Erin Major, Denise Matheson, Norma Apodaca, Tamara Laatsch, Chrissy Manthorpe, Kristina Pollett and Crystal Lewis for volunteering your afternoons to make this a success. Have a great week everyone!
