August Family Update
Greetings Glendale Families,
Can you believe it? We are officially one month away from welcoming our Panthers back on Wednesday, September 9, for another exciting school year at Glendale Elementary! Our custodial staff has been hard at work preparing classrooms and Mrs. Call and I are working hard planning engaging learning experiences, and creating a welcoming environment where every child can thrive. We are incredibly excited to begin another year of learning, growing, and celebrating everything that makes our Glendale community so special. To all of our new families coming to Glendale for the first time, WELCOME!!! You will absolutely love our Glendale Family!
This year, Glendale is embracing our Super Hero theme! While superheroes may wear capes in movies, we know the greatest heroes walk through our school doors every dayβour students, families, and staff. Throughout the year, we'll encourage every student to discover that everyone has unique strengths and special talents. Some superheroes are creative problem-solvers. Others are compassionate friends, courageous leaders, determined learners, thoughtful listeners, or incredible teammates. Every child has something that makes them extraordinary.
Our goal this year is to help every student:
- Discover their unique strengths
- Recognize the talents that make them special
- Use their "superpowers" to positively impact others
- Appreciate the unique strengths of their classmates and community
At Glendale, we believe that when students recognize their own gifts and celebrate the strengths of others, they develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and a true sense of belonging. We can't wait to see our Panthers shine this year!
βοΈ Welcome Back Packets Are Coming Soon!
Over the next few weeks, families will receive their Welcome Back Summer Packet, filled with important information to help prepare for a successful school year.
Inside you'll find:
- Your child's teacher assignment
- Important school information
- Transportation details (if applicable)
- School calendar and important dates
- Required forms and reminders
- Information about upcoming events and opportunities
We encourage you to review everything together as a family and keep the packet handy as we prepare for the first day of school on Wednesday, September 9, 2026! Whether your child is entering UPK for the very first time or returning as one of our 5th grade leaders, we can't wait to see smiling faces filling our hallways once again. Together, we'll begin another incredible year of learning, growing, leading, and discovering the unique superpowers that make every Panther shine.
Helping Your Panther Prepare
You can help your child have a confident start to the school year by:
- Reading together each day.
- Practicing math facts and number sense through games.
- Re-establishing bedtime and morning routines.
- Talking about the excitement of returning to school.
- Asking your child, "What is your superpower?" Help them think about the talents, strengths, and qualities that make them uniquely special and how they can use those gifts to help others.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for trusting us with your incredible children. Together, we'll make this a school year filled with courage, kindness, perseverance, and growth. We can't wait to welcome everyone back in September!
With Panther Pride,

Habits At Home
At Glendale, we believe that every child is a leader, and one of the ways we help students grow as leaders is through The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. These habits teach lifelong skills that help children become responsible, kind, confident, and successful both in school and at home.
Many of our new Panther families may be hearing about the 7 Habits for the first time, and we are excited to begin this journey together! Throughout the school year, students will learn and practice these habits every day, but summer is a wonderful time to start introducing them at home.
Here are the 7 Habits we live by at Glendale:
π Habit 1: Be Proactive β I am in charge of me.
π Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind β I have a plan and set goals.
π Habit 3: Put First Things First β I work first, then play.
π Habit 4: Think Win-Win β I look for solutions where everyone can succeed.
π Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood β I listen before I speak.
π Habit 6: Synergize β Together is better! We work as a team and value everyone's ideas.
π Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw β I take care of my body, heart, mind, and soul.
This summer, look for simple opportunities to talk about and practice the habits as a family. Whether it's setting a goal, helping with chores, solving a problem together, or showing kindness to a neighbor, every moment is a chance to grow as a leader. We can't wait to see our Panthers return this fall ready to lead, learn, and make a difference. Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to build a strong leadership cultureβat school and at home!
