It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of our second trimester—congratulations to our students and families on completing ⅔ of the school year! We are so proud of the growth, effort, and learning that has taken place.

Looking ahead to next week, We look forward to celebrating positive behavior and attendance with fun activities planned for our students. I’d like to especially congratulate the following classes for completing the perfect attendance challenge (15 days of perfect classroom attendance!): Carter, Steinmetz, Thompson, Capriola-Juza, Murphy, Workman, and Thomson! We’re proud of your teamwork and school spirit!

We are excited to celebrate Read Across America with special activities that highlight the joy and importance of reading.

On Wednesday, our students will participate in VAPA, continuing to explore and express their creativity through the arts.

We will end the week with Friday Flag on our blacktop followed by "Coffee with the Principal in Room 29; it's a perfect chance to ask questions, share your feedback and hear what's next at Pomerado.

This enrollment window is for students currently enrolled in Poway Unified schools in grades TK-11. A digital registration packet must be completed for ALL currently enrolled students, whether your child(ren) are returning or leaving the district next school year.

If your family is not returning to PUSD for the 2026-2027 school year, please complete the online packet for your child(ren) to let us know. We’ve simplified the process this year: once you select the "No, we are not planning to return next year" option, the form will automatically skip to the end for a quick submission. It only takes a moment and greatly helps us with our planning for the upcoming school year.

Completing the Continuing Student Registration process will allow for proper placement of your child(ren) for the 2026-2027 school year as well as appropriate release procedures for those who will not be returning. For full instructions on this process, visit the Continuing Registration webpage.

Beginning Monday, March 2, Poway Unified School District will expand the use of Parent Digital Attendance Reporting across all schools following a successful two-year pilot program.

This new option allows families to submit absence information directly through their existing Parent Portal account. By logging into the secure portal, parents and guardians can quickly report a student’s absence without needing to send a handwritten note or leave a voicemail. Because families authenticate through the Parent Portal, the system automatically verifies the adult’s relationship to the student and creates a secure record of the submission.

Please note:

• Digital reporting is an additional option for families.

• Traditional phone calls and existing attendance reporting methods will remain available.

• Absences must still meet district and state criteria for excused absences under California Education Code.

This enhancement supports our commitment to improving efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in attendance reporting across the district while making the process more convenient for families.

April is autism awareness month and Pomerado will be participating in the Race for Autism SUPERHERO 5K and One Mile Family Fun Walk on Saturday April 11th. We would love for Pomerado Families to participate in any way that brings them joy. We will accept donations to the Pomerado Wildcat Team page (link below) or even individual participants. We would also love to walk with you on Saturday April 11th in Balboa Park so if that feels like a fun way to participate, the more the merrier. Every dollar raised goes directly to support autism programs and services that are making a difference for those with autism. Thank you in advance for being a SUPERHERO for autism!

Course selection window will be open March 2 – March 15th. This Monday!

• Incoming 6th Grade Families Link. It includes presentations, course information, FAQs, and additional resources from Parent Night and our visits.
• Teachers will be collecting the blue Course Request Form that were sent home. Students need to return their blue CRF form to their 5th grade teacher by Friday, March 13th. Please have student write their name and Student ID number.

Families are warmly invited to join us on Tuesday, June 2, as we honor our 5th grade students. The 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and is expected to conclude around 10:30 AM. Please note that this date has been updated from the original school calendar.
