Information about Safety

During the 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, House Bill 3 (HB 3), was passed. House Bill 3 (HB 3), effective September 1, 2023, adds the new Texas Education Code section 37.0814. This new law requires each school board to determine the appropriate number of armed security personnel for each district campus.

At the August 15 meeting, the board approved Elementary and Intermediate campuses to utilize Armed Security Guards. Effective today, August 28, all Elementary and Intermediate campuses will have Armed Security Guards present.

We will work with the security guard to ensure they are a positive member of our school community and students are comfortable with additional security on campus.

We routinely practice safety drills to prepare for emergency situations. At the beginning of the year, we spend time teaching students about each drill and what to expect with each experience. On September 21st at 8:30 we will conduct our first lock down drill of the year.

CSISD - VISITOR PROTOCOLS

For the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff, College Station ISD has updated its campus visitor protocol for the 2023-24 school year. All non-CSISD employees will adhere to the following protocols when visiting a CSISD campus.

  1. Please present your driver’s license or state-issued ID to the front desk receptionist. (Your ID will be returned when you leave the premises.)

  2. Please indicate where in the building you will be visiting and proceed directly to and from that location.

  3. Please wear the visitor’s sticker provided to you in a visible location throughout your visit on campus.

  4. To reclaim your ID, please return the visitor’s sticker to the front desk receptionist.

Title I Information

South Knoll Elementary is a Title I School. The Title I status allows us to have some additional funds to support the education of our students. At the start of every year there are informational items we must share with you about Title I. Below is a list of those items and some information about each.
-A Title I Informational meeting will be held 9/12 at 5:30 to give an overview of the Title I program at South Knoll. This same information will be repeated 9/14 at noon.
-As parents you have the right to request to see the certification of your child's teachers. Information regarding that process is linked below.

Morning Traffic Pattern

Sending out a friendly reminder this morning to keep everyone safe and traffic moving along during morning drop off. Please make sure that all kids getting out of the car and walking in on their own are being dropped off in the circle drive. If you are parking and walking your child in, please make sure that any parking on Boswell is done so in a safe and legal manner. Our #1 goal is to keep everyone safe during morning drop off!
