We had a wonderful week at LITH! It was fantastic seeing so many of our families during Thursday's Halloween Parade. It’s hard to believe November is already next week!

Soon, you will receive details on how to schedule your Parent-Teacher Conferences. I strongly encourage you to sign up for a time to connect with your child's teacher about their progress at Lake in the Hills Elementary. These conferences play a vital role in building a strong connection between home and school.

On Thursday, October 21st, you received the Erin's Law letter. Our first set of lessons will take place the week of November 2nd for each classroom. Our social workers, Mary Yerex and Rebecca O'Connell will be delivering the lessons. If you want to opt out your child, please email Angela Hammond at angela.hammond@d300.org.

On Wednesday, November 11th, we will hold our annual Veterans Day Assembly. If you have a family member who is a Veteran that would like to attend our Veterans Day Assembly, please fill out this FORM. If your student has a Veteran to celebrate that can't attend, email a picture and a small blurb about their service to jessica.meza@d300.org.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we would like to support our families who may need assistance with a holiday meal. If your family would benefit from Thanksgiving meal assistance, please complete the form: Thanksgiving Assistance Request 2026 .

Please note that one meal is available per household, and the form should be completed only once per household.

Maddies Mittens March is Back!

Stay warm, Leopards! Maddie’s Mitten March is returning to Lake in the Hills Elementary to help keep our families cozy this winter!

Join us on Thursday, November 12th, from 5:00–7:00 PM for a special evening where FREE winter gear will be available for every member of your family! Whether you need coats, hats, gloves, or other winter essentials, Maddie’s Mitten March is here to help.

Bundle up, spread the warmth, and make sure your family is ready for the chilly months ahead. We look forward to seeing you there!

Transportation Changes: Please call the office BEFORE 1:00pm to make transportation changes for your student(s). Consistent routines give students stability, and last-minute changes can cause them unnecessary stress. Early notice ensures staff can inform teachers and update your child ahead of time. The school follows the transportation listed by the office. We do not change transportation based on student requests. All changes require guardians to notify the office directly, either by phone call or email to attendance.lithes@d300.org

Early Dismissals: Contact the office at the start of the school day if your child has an appointment. Upon return, submit a doctor's note so the early departure is excused.

DENTAL CLINIC
Greater Family Dental will be at LITH the first week of November. If you would like for your student to be seen for a dental exam, please fill out the included consent forms and turn in to the main office or Nurse Robin as soon as possible. Please be aware that a DENTAL EXAM IS A REQUIREMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN AND SECOND GRADES. An exam through Greater Family will meet this requirement. Exams are due by May 15th.

EYE EXAMS
Kindergarten eye exams are due by October 15th. It is extremely important that all kindergarten students get a comprehensive eye exam by an eye doctor. Vision problems can affect learning, so early identification is critical.

Encouraging Respectful Conflict Resolution at LITH

Lately, we’ve noticed more of our students practicing how to assert themselves and express when they aren't comfortable with a situation. Speaking up and using strong, clear words—like saying "stop"—is an important skill we are actively teaching all of our students so they can express themselves in a healthy way without resorting to arguments or physical behavior, especially on the playground.

When talking with your child at home, please encourage them to stand up for what they believe is right and speak up when something feels wrong. Remind them that the first step to solving any conflict is addressing it directly and respectfully. If a situation persists after they have tried to resolve it themselves, remind your child to find an adult who can help them find a resolution.

Together, we can help our students build positive, respectful communication skills!

¡Fue una semana maravillosa en LITH! Fue fantastico mirar a tantas familias durante el Desfile de Halloween este jueves. ¡Es dificil creer que la próxima semana ya sera noviembre!

Pronto recibirán información sobre como programar sus conferencias de padres y maestros. CAMBIOS EN EL TRANSPORTE: Por favor, llame a la oficina ANTES DE LA 1:00 pm. para realizar cambios en el transporte de su(s) estudiante(s). Las rutinas constantes brindan estabilidad a los estudiantes, y los cambios de último momento pueden causarles estrés innecesario. Avisar con anticipación permite que el personal informe a los maestros y prepare a su hijo(a) para el cambio. La escuela seguirá el medio de transporte registrado por la oficina. No realizamos cambios de transporte basados en las solicitudes de los estudiantes. CLINICAL DENTAL:
Greater Family Dental estará en LITH durante la primera semana de noviembre. Si usted desea que su estudiante reciba una evaluación dental, por favor complete los formularios de consentimiento adjuntos y envíelo de regreso a la oficina principal o la enfermera Robin lo antes posible. Por favor, recuerde que se requiere que TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES DE KINDER Y SEGUNDO GRADO RECIBAN UNA EVALUACIÓN DENTAL. El examen proporcionado por Greater Family mide con los requisitos. Las evaluaciones dentales deben realizarse antes del 15 de mayo.

EXÁMENES DE LA VISTA:
Los exámenes de la vista es un requisito para los estudiantes de Kinder y necesitan realizarse antes del 15 de octubre. Es extremadamente importante que todos los estudiantes de Kinder se realicen un examen de la vista por un oftalmólogo u optometrista. Los problemas de visión pueden afectar el aprendizaje, por los que es fundamental identificarlos a tiempo.

Fomentando la resolución respetuosa de conflictos en LITH

Últimamente, estamos observado que más estudiantes están practicando cómo defenderse de manera asertiva y expresar cuando una situación les hace sentir incómodos. Hablar con firmeza y utilizar palabras claras, como decir "alto", es una habilidad importante que estamos enseñando activamente a todos nuestros estudiantes para que puedan expresarse de manera saludable sin recurrir a discusiones ni a comportamientos físicos, especialmente durante el recreo.

Al hablar con su estudiante en casa, por favor, anímelo a defender lo que considera correcto y a expresarse cuando algo no le parezca bien. Recuérdele que el primer paso para resolver cualquier conflicto es abordarlo directamente y con respeto. Si la situación continúa después de que haya intentado resolverla por sí mismo, recuérdele que debe acudir a un adulto que pueda ayudarle a encontrar una solución.

¡Juntos podemos ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a desarrollar habilidades de comunicación positivas y respetuosas!

Próxima actividad divertida para recaudar fondos: ¡Tatuar a los Maestros!
Los estudiantes tendran oportunidad de comprar tatuajes temporales para los maestros y miembros del personal que deseen participar. ¡El 19 de noviembre, luciran sus tatuajes!
