ROCHESTER MIDDLE SCHOOL
May 23rd- May 30th
Principal Message
Greetings, RMS Families-
This week we honored the new members of our National Junior Honor Society, and the RMS Bands performed some fantastic songs on Wednesday, May 21. The PACK field trip was a hit this week, as well.
On May 29th, we will host our 5th Grade Step-Up. This is when 5th grade students from the elementary schools visit RMS for the day. Our 6th graders do not have school that day. Some 6th graders will be attending and acting as a 6th grade ambassador for the 5th grade students.
Finally, we are hosting a 5th Grade Step-Up information evening for our parents and guardians. Parents will see a presentation and get tours of RMS from NJHS students. In addition, there will be a BBQ outside for 5th grade students and families.
Have a great week!
Respectfully,
Ryan Gilpatrick

Dear 7th Grade parents/guardians:
It's time to think about signing your student up for Spanish I for 8th grade. This class is offered as a full-year course for RMS 8th graders, taught in conjunction with the World Language program at Spaulding High School.
Students who complete Spanish 1 successfully (“B” or better for an overall grade) at RMS can go directly into Spanish 2 upon entry during their Freshman year at SHS. Students who receive an overall grade of "C" will need teacher recommendation for Spanish 2.
This course is for students who love learning about Language and Culture! It is an Academic course that includes note taking, homework, projects, quizzes and exams, as well as an expectation for active participation in class.
Students interested in signing up for this class will need to have taken Spanish class in 6th or 7th grade and passed with an overall end of trimester grade of either Competent or Exceeds Competent. Forms are available outside of Room 176 and the cafeteria. Signed forms are due by Friday, May 23rd.
