Leighton Update
8/13/2026
Dear Leighton Families,
The new school year is just a few short days away, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back! We are excited to see our 3rd-grade families tomorrow, Friday, August 14th, for Meet & Greet from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Please remember to bring your child’s school supplies to drop off in their classroom. We also look forward to hosting our 4th and 5th grade students and families on Monday, August 17th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for their Meet & Greet. As you prepare for the first day, please review this newsletter carefully for vital details on our arrival and dismissal procedures, which were also included with your recent class placement information. Additionally, please ensure all Final Forms are completed prior to the start of school. Important school links have been provided for your convenience. We look forward to seeing you all very soon and kicking off a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!
Sincerely,

Please review the Leighton Arrival & Dismissal Protocols linked below. This guide contains essential information to help keep our students safe and ensure our campus runs smoothly each day.
Driving your student to school?
If you plan to drop off or pick up your child at any point during the school year, please complete the Car Rider Tag Form. You can pick up your tag in the cafeteria near the AEPTO table during your child’s Meet & Greet night.
School Supply Lists
To help with your back-to-school preparations, we have provided the school supply lists for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades below. Please take a moment to review the list for your child's upcoming grade.
School Supplies List:
Final Forms Reminder
The Aurora City Schools use Final Forms to complete necessary back-to-school paperwork and to send out important communication. Final Forms saves data from year-to-year so that you will never need to enter the same information twice. If at any time a phone number, email or other contact information changes we will get a notification that a change has been made, so please make updates when needed. Also, if you see a field in red, you will need to make these updates in the system. You will need to see all "green fields" to show that your Final Forms are up to date for the 26-27 school year. Please click the Final Forms image to take you to the login screen.
Nursing Update and Medication Reminder
If your child will require any medication to be administered during the school day, they must have a doctor's note on file. We have included all the important medical forms that are necessary.
New doctors’ orders and new medication will be required for each school year. You can locate all medication forms on our website at: www.aurora-schools.org→departments→nursing services or download the forms from below!
Welcome Back From Superintendent Dr. Milcetich
Transportation Info From Mrs. Wingler
All students schedules are currently available through the MyRide K-12 App. How to access the App is located on the ACSD website under Departments/Transportation on the right side of the webpage. I have included the link below.
If any student is needing to be picked up or dropped off other than their home location, they MUST fill out an alternate bus stop form before we can transport and return to us by email, fax or dropping off at the office. That form is located in the same area as listed below on the webpage and is also included below.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please email transportationinfo@aurora-schools.org
Reporting Student Absences
When reporting your child's absence, please call 330-562-2209 and select option 1. You will be prompted to leave a message with the name of your child and the reason for the absence. If you need to talk to our attendance secretary, Mrs. Mariah George, please select 0 and you will be connected during normal school hours.
Planned Absence and Religious Expression Days
In Ohio, school-age children (K-12- Not Preschool) are legally required to attend school, and attendance is tracked strictly by hours missed rather than full days. To keep your child on track, always notify the school immediately when your child is absent by calling Mrs. George at 330-562-2209 and select option 1.
In Aurora, we require planned absence forms when you know in advance that your child will be missing school. Additionally, if you will be submitting for any religious expression days, these need to be submitted prior to the start of the school year. We're here to support your child's success with regular school attendance and staying on track throughout the year!
