After School Care for the Next School Year
After-School Care – Expression of Interest
The school has been approached by an after-school care company, and—pending Board of Management and Patron approval—we hope to avail of their services from next year. I have been very impressed with what they propose to offer, and I believe it would be a valuable support for many families in our school community. For more information about this after-school provider, please see the link here ...https://www.sherpakids.ie/
If you are interested in this potential service, please take a moment to fill out the form here. The service can only go ahead if there is sufficient interest from parents.
Fyffes Ireland’s Fittest School 2025 Final - 2nd Place Finish for Dangan!
Fyffes Fittest School Challenge – All-Ireland Success!
We are thrilled to share that our team finished 2nd in the All-Ireland Finals of the Fyffes Fittest School Challenge! It was a day full of energy, determination, and school spirit. Our students truly shone – with some winning their individual races and challenges, and others placing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in highly competitive events. Their speed, teamwork, and positive attitude proved once again that we are a very active and enthusiastic school. We’re delighted to receive €1000 worth of sports equipment, for our students’ amazing efforts and spirit throughout the Fyffes Fittest School Challenge!
We are currently reviewing our Active Schools initiatives and we would appreciate parental feedback. Please take 2 minutes to complete this anonymous survey: https://shorturl.at/Kwcq7final!

Sports Updates
Hurling & Camogie
The Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie competitions have now come to an end. Well done to the boys and girls who took part in the games, and a sincere thanks to Ms Byrne and Mr Kelly for mentoring the teams and helping the students develop their skills with every game played.
Hurling Roundup
Both our Peader Lehane and Cumann na mBunscoil hurling teams really enjoyed their respective competitions. We have made great improvements with some students playing their first matches and others making the return to play hurling. We were competitive in all of our games and our Peader Lehane team defeated Boardsmill NS and our Cumann na mBunscoil team won two matches against Kilcloon and Rathbeggan. Well done to everyone for taking part this year. Keep up the great work.
Rounders
Miss Fitzgerald and our girls' rounders team had a very enjoyable day at Trim GAA last Friday, taking part in a fun Rounders Blitz.
The girls have made great progress with their rounders skills this year, but more importantly, they showed fantastic teamwork and really enjoyed playing together. Well done to all involved!
Commiserations to our boys' rounders team, who were narrowly defeated by Cool NS in last week’s semi-final of the rounders competition.
Although the result didn’t go our way, we are very proud of the team’s effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Well done, boys!
Mini Rounders
Next up for our rounders teams will be mini rounders for 3rd and 4th classes. A boys and girls team will take part in this fun competition in Trim GAA over the coming weeks.
100 touch Challenge - 2nd Place finish for Kevin!
We’re very proud to share that Kevin represented Dangan NS in the 100 Touch Challenge semi-final at the Meath GAA Centre of Excellence in Dunganny on Wednesday, 21st May — and finished an impressive second overall!
One pupil from each school in Meath was selected to take part, with skills such as toe lifts, hop & solo technique, and a strong finish all being assessed. Well done, Kevin — we’re all very proud of you!
Football & Hurling Coaching Continues
Junior Infants to 2nd Class are thoroughly enjoying their hurling sessions with Neil every Wednesday. Last week, the infant classes even got the chance to paint their hurls with him!
Meanwhile, classes from Junior Infants up to 4th Class are also having great fun at football training with Aoife from Summerhill GAA Club every Friday!
Dangan World Cup
The Dangan Senior, Inter and Infant World Cups are in full flow. All games are currently at the group stages and the students are really enjoying the support, atmosphere and games on show during our yard time. A special thanks to Tomás and Megan for their organisation and refereeing skills since the tournament began.
