A Short Note
I hope you all are loving this summer weather! I know I'm especially enjoying it for the start of Spring sports that have kicked off in our house!
Order Deadline: May 1st!
Learning Specialists, SLPs, and Psychs: If you have not yet used your $200 supply dollars from Student Services and you would like to, please get any and all remaining orders and/or receipts from purchases you've made into Kristan by MAY 1st.
ESY Case Managers
ESY Case Managers: Emails for students who qualify for ESY, based on their IEP, have been getting an email to sign up for ESY! Please encourage families you work with to fill this out. If they are having trouble, you also received an email and if you can support filling out the information we would really appreciate the help!
Please reach out to Sara Young with any questions!
The new workflow is below. Thank you!
✨ ESY case managers, we have an exciting new workflow for ESY, which will require LESS work from you! Yay!
📝 If a student qualifies for ESY, per their IEP, their parent or guardian will receive a Smartsheet link to complete, that allows them to indicate whether they will be attending ESY or not and whether they would like transportation to the site.
✅ If email will be a barrier for a family, you can help them, by entering what they tell you verbally - you will also be emailed the link. 🙂
⭐ Based on what is listed in the IEP, it will automatically be marked if they will be offered the short or long session of ESY or GRO/EXCEL and that will be communicated to the family when they receive their link.
❗You will NO LONGER have to print forms, collect signatures from families, and send them back to me! Hurray!
👍 If ESY times are not currently listed on the student's IEP, you will be getting an email from me (Sara), asking you to fix this, so we can ensure that families receive the correct information.
📆 DATES for ESY: July 13-30 (Monday-Thursday ONLY)
🏫 FYI - We do not have solidified locations for ESY, yet. Locations will be finalized when we find out who will be attending ESY. The location will be chosen based on student equipment need.

Welcome back to Campus Kudos, where we will be celebrating ways that a school’s Student Services team has been working to promote inclusion, belonging for students, and working as a team to support each other. Stay tuned each week to see which school is highlighted and what kinds of amazing work they are doing to support students.
This week we are celebrating Buckingham and Sky View!
BUCKINGHAM
The Buckingham team has worked to build systems with general education teachers to create opportunities for students to meaningfully participate in their classroom. One of the most fun and engaging access points for all students at Buckingham is through the STEM activities they do! STEM can be made accessible to all, and the engagement in these activities fosters a sense of belonging and curiosity for students. Whether those activities involve art, building, science, etc… The evidence of engagement is displayed on the walls at Buckingham for all to see the students’ hard work.
The Student Services team members have gone above and beyond with providing opportunities for the entire school staff to grow their skills through professional development on a consistent and ongoing basis. The Buckingham team is also regularly connecting to problem solve for students with a wraparound approach to teaming. This ensures that all relevant factors are considered when supporting a student’s needs. Go Broncos!
SKY VIEW
The Sky View team collaborates between Special Education and Student Success to help bridge the access gap for students with both a disability and mental health/behavioral needs. This collaboration is so meaningful because staff know their students strengths, needs, and preferences so well. Through this collaboration, students are better able to get their needs met so they can meaningfully access their general education classes.
Something unique at Sky View is that staff are celebrated on a regular basis! There is a rotating display for staff of the month, which includes ALL school staff... even educational assistants! It is awesome to walk in and see one of our hard working Student Services staff be celebrated for the month, and it also normalizes that all support and intervention staff are vital members of the Sky View team.
The Sky View team fosters a sense of belonging for students by truly individualizing their plans to their needs! Even in the little ways :) A kind of silly story that illustrates this - It's pretty normal to provide students with access to snacks throughout the day to help with regulation.... Goldfish, granola bars, fruit.... At Sky View, there is a student who makes instant mashed potatoes in the microwave for his snack. The willingness from staff to allow access to mashed potatoes shows that they want students to feel like their needs are met and that they belong at Sky View! Go Falcons!
