How can I help my child with Math?
The Importance of Daily Math Practice
Dear Middle School Families,
Mathematics is a subject that builds upon itself, and consistent daily practice is key to mastering the concepts taught in class. Just like learning a sport or a musical instrument, developing strong math skills requires regular reinforcement.
To support students in their learning, the Illustrative Mathematics student workbooks include practice problems that can be used daily (see the image).
Students and parents can easily access these problems by knowing which unit and lesson they are currently working on in class. This link takes you to a document containing all student workbooks that are used at AMS. We encourage students to dedicate 15 to 30 minutes each weeknight to reviewing and practicing math concepts.
If your student needs additional support, they are always welcome to reach out to their math teacher or to our math specialist, Kris Kaplinski (kkaplinski@aspenk12.net).
Some resources for Illustrative Mathematics that students and parents may find useful are linked to this page.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting your child’s math success.
Best regards,
Kris Kaplinski

You should go to Khan Academy and watch the video on the exact lesson you missed, then do the practice that goes with the video.
