Welcome Back, Redhawks Families!

We are so excited to see our students and get our school year started! We are focusing on academic growth, building relationships with everyone in our school and encouraging positive behavior and attendance!

Our custodial team has our building looking like new and ready for the school year. They have worked hard to make MRI shine! Our staffulty has been working diligently to prepare for our students - in the classroom and through training before our students arrive. Classroom libraries are ready to be read, math materials are ready to be used and we're ready for our students to walk through our doors!

There's a lot of information included, and much more to come. If you have any questions, please ask. All communication will be through Schoology, the MRI website, student planners and our RED communication folders. Be sure to check out the Welcome Toolkit on the MRI website and in your teacher's HOMEROOM section on Schoology. Be sure to get and stay connected with Schoology. (pronounced School- o -ge). Our teachers will be posting weekly to their homeroom. If you aren't connected, let us help you! Be sure you are linked so you don't miss out!

Let's Go, Redhawks!

Mrs. Frye

Technology Technology

All students should bring their iPad and charger (block & cord). Make sure the iPad is charged and ready for use!

What will a school day look like for my child?

Student Drop-off: 8:20-8:40am

Drive around to the back parking lot and pull up where a staffulty member is waiting to welcome your child. Please wish them a GREAT day and send them on their way. We ask that you stay in your car to help traffic move smoothly. Please DO NOT arrive before 8am to drop your child off. This creates a safety issue for our staffulty as they arrive. If you choose to transport your child, please have them to school a few minutes early so they can be in their classroom and be ready for their day.

**The back door at parent drop-off will be closed and locked at 8:40am. If you arrive after 8:40am, please bring your child in the front door.

Instructional Day...Academics, Unified Arts, Lunch & Recess

Refer to your child's homeroom Schoology page for details on their schedule.

Afternoon Dismissal..Our instructional day ends at 3:20pm. We will begin dismissal immediately following announcements. Be sure to have your ID! If you will be picking your child up each day, you should have a pick-up number. (Your child should know their number!). If you are picking your child up instead of them riding the bus, please PLAN AHEAD & SEND A NOTE. If you need to change your dismissal plan, please call before noon so we can have our documents prepared for the pick-up team.

If you are choosing to pick up your child each day and are frustrated by the car line....you can help!

1. Please drive slowly while on campus. Follow the speed limit signs and watch for staffulty who are helping direct traffic. Students are loading/unloading vehicles & buses.

2. Please DO NOT come in the back parking lot prior to 2:50. This is a safety issue.

3. Have your ID ready. Regular pick-up numbers should be displayed.

Need help finding your child's bus info? Check the BCS transportation info on the website or new APP.

How do I sign my child out (or in) during the school day?

You will enter the front door and ring the office doorbell. Scan the QR code to sign them out. Please provide your child's name and ID and we will compare it to your child's emergency information on file. You must have your ID when signing your child out from school. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe.

Hydration

Send a reusable water bottle with your child daily. We have refilling stations in each wing for them to use. Help us stay happy, healthy and hydrated!

Schoology

Schoology is our platform for communication, lesson planning and grading. Please check Schoology daily to keep up with what your child is doing or needs to complete. This tool will provide you access to their lessons, as the teacher publishes them. If a student is absent, the lessons are available for families to see and work through as they are making up work. Please use this resource to benefit your child's learning. Every parent should have a PARENT ACCOUNT. If you don't, be sure to create one. Communication between parents and teachers/administration should be through the parent account. Parent access codes will be provided, if you're not already connected. We look forward to communicating with you to make this year a success!

Counselor's Corner

Welcome back ! We are excited to start another school year.

There have been some changes in the Counseling department. This year we welcome Mrs. Lorraine Barr. She will be with us Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week and Ms. Schminkey will be here Monday through Friday. We are looking forward to supporting our students and having a great school year. Please reach out with any concerns you may have. Again this year, Mrs. Burroughs will be our school social worker.

Attendance Update: Did you know that missing 10% (or about 18 days per school year) can make it harder to learn to read? Gaps in your student’s education will occur. We want our students to Strive for Less than 5 this year. In the event your child must be absent, it is important to communicate with their teacher and the school. Using the online excused form is a quick and easy way to make sure your child’s absence is coded correctly.
