March Middle School Update
As we turn the calendar to March, we begin to see signs of spring ahead, longer days, busier schedules, and a renewed sense of energy in our hallways. March is always a meaningful month at Windom Middle School. It’s a time when we refocus, set goals for a strong finish to the school year, and continue building the habits that help our students grow both academically and personally.
Many of our teachers and support staff show up early, stay late, and pour their energy into planning lessons, providing interventions, building relationships, supervising activities, answering emails, analyzing data, and finding ways to meet the needs of every student who walks through our doors. The growth we are seeing this year did not happen by accident, it is the direct result of relentless effort, collaboration, and commitment to kids.
Behind every successful lesson is thoughtful preparation. Behind every student improvement is extra support. Behind every safe and structured school day is a team of adults who care deeply.
With that said, partnership matters.
Accountability is not punishment — it is preparation.
When students make mistakes, we address them. When they fall short, we redirect and reteach. When they succeed, we celebrate. But growth only happens when students learn that their choices matter.
We ask for your partnership in reinforcing that message at home. Support your child in being on time, prepared, respectful, and responsible for their actions. Encourage perseverance when work feels difficult. Help them understand that discomfort and challenge are part of learning. Resilience is built, not given.
Our goal is not to make things easier for students, it is to make them stronger.
Thank you for standing with our teachers and support staff. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Together, we can continue building a school rooted in respect, effort, accountability, and Eagle Pride.
Let’s make March a month of growth and grit.
🎠Middle School Play – March 20 & 21 at 7:00 PM đźŽ
The Windom Middle School students are proud to present this year’s spring play, “When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors”, on March 20 and 21 at 7:00 PM in the High School Lecture Hall. This fast-paced comedy highlights the unpredictable world of live theater, where missed cues, dramatic mishaps, and unexpected surprises create laugh-out-loud moments for the audience. Our talented middle school cast has been working incredibly hard memorizing lines, building characters, and learning the ins and outs of stage performance. Producing a play takes teamwork, courage, and dedication. From the actors on stage to the students working behind the scenes, this production showcases the creativity and commitment of our middle school students and staff. We invite families and community members to come out, support our students, and enjoy an evening of fun and laughter. You won’t want to miss it! We look forward to seeing you there! 🎟️

March High School Update
We enter March with a great spirit as we are approaching the 3/4 point of the school year. Wow, has it flown by!
As 3rd quarter comes to a close, we have many exciting opportunities for our students:
- The Disney Trip for our 10-12 grade Band & Choir students
- 2026-2027 course requests for our 8-11 grade students
- College & Career Fair on March 6th
- The spring testing window for our STAR & CAPTI tests
- The close of the winter season & the start of the spring sports season - speech, robotics, FFA continue
While opportunities outside the classroom abound, it is also important that the classroom and activities related to all classes take precedent for students. Finishing 3rd quarter strong is very important as students put forth their best efforts toward a successful finish to 2nd semester in 4th quarter. Seniors are busy with Eagle Achievement, while many students in grades 11-12 continue to push themselves in rigorous college courses, along with our rich offering of CTE & core courses for all students. It is vitally important that student-teacher & parent communication is strong as the needs for all learners are met.
Enjoy the month of March and the coming of Spring!

Eagle Elevation
We don't always get things right the first time, and often times we have to ask for help. Our students have the opportunity for help outside of school hours everyday at Windom Schools. Every one of our teachers makes time to meet with students before/after school and we offer Eagle Elevation hour M, Tu, Th & F 3:30-4:15 as well as Study Table every W. Please encourage your student to reach out for help when needed and if not currently getting the results they hope for, speak to a teacher or any other staff member about looking at the current approach. Let's celebrate process over product and the efforts to grow that will lead to future success for students.
Attendance
Chronic Absenteeism (missing more than 10% of school days) continues to improve - thank you to all our families for getting students to school as often as physically possible. We do ask to have an attendance meeting and have students on attendance contracts at 10 absences (excused or unexcused.) While we love to see overall attendance improve over last year, we would like to see continued improvements in our overall consistent attendance rate. We would like to see 95% of our student body attending 90% or better. We are currently at about 87% of our HS attending 90% or better. Chronic absenteeism does have an impact on academic and social/emotional success. Remember, the world is run by those who show up. Thank you to parents and students for valuing being present in school! Reminder - if your student will be absent, please let our office know by calling 507-831-6910 or by emailing attendancemshs@isd177.com. We now have an office cell phone that you can text/call - the number for the office cell is 507-221-3511. All absences require a notice within 48 hours, at that point the absence becomes unexcused.
