A Message from Ms. Osmerg
Jaguar Families,
As we move into another wonderful week of learning and growth, I am continually reminded of what a special school community we have. Our students are thriving because of the strong partnership between our families, staff, and community organizations, and I am grateful for all the ways you support our school each day.
It is SGC election time! Our School Governance Council provides parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role through monitoring and implementation of the school strategic plan. The work of the SGC truly helps strengthen the partnership between home and school. I encourage all families to learn more about the election process and how you can participate. Additional information can be found in this week’s newsletter.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible PTA. Their ongoing support enriches the experiences of our students, staff, and families in countless ways. Just this semester, the PTA has helped with our annual Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast, brought joy to our community through the Sweetheart Dance, and provided cake and flowers to celebrate our Teacher of the Year, Dakota Williamson, and Professional of the Year, Mary Diamond. These are just a few examples of the many ways they contribute to building a strong, caring school community. I encourage you to sign up for volunteer opportunities as they arise. Together, we make a difference!
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for all the ways you support our school. It truly takes a village, and I am grateful to work alongside such a dedicated one.
Wishing you a truly #AHE-mazing week!
Jill Osmerg

Attendance Matters!
At our school, helping every child succeed is at the heart of our work—and consistent school attendance plays a major role in that success. As part of our school’s strategic plan, we are committed to reducing chronic absenteeism (students missing 10% or more of the school year, or 18+ days). Every day of learning matters, and together we can make a strong difference.
Did You Know?
- Regular attendance in elementary school greatly increases the likelihood that your child will read on grade level.
- Chronic absenteeism—even when absences are excused—significantly impacts academic achievement. Students who miss 18 or more days per year often struggle to keep up with grade-level expectations.
- Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are far more likely to graduate from high school on time.
- Absences can also be a signal that a child is facing challenges, such as academic frustration, peer conflicts, or personal difficulties. Please know that help is available, and we are here to support your child and your family.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your child is present, engaged, and learning every day. When students attend regularly, they thrive!
Thank you for helping to get your students to school every day and on time!
Jill Osmerg
2026 School Governance Council Elections!
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has both parent/guardian and teacher positions open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following responsibilities:
• Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
• Manage the Request for Flexibility process
• Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
• Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
• Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Candidate Declaration Form. Forms will be available on Monday, February 2nd.
We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider
running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 27th and voting will take place April 22 – April 29. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or the Charter System Overview.
Carpool Update
To ensure student safety and ensure the morning carpool lane runs smoothly, please reserve parking and walking your student inside for students who require special assistance. If you park and walk inside, you may be asked to wait at Crosswalk 1 and/or Crosswalk 2 as the cars in the carpool lane have the right of way.
As a reminder, our carpool line opens at 7:10. If most people arrive at 7:30 or 7:35, the carpool lane will back up. We have had close calls with families parking and allowing their student to run across the parking lot, sometimes unattended. This is a huge safety concern.
Please view the carpool map below. Thank you for helping us to keep your children safe!
