Dear Bridges Community School Families,

Happy mid-February!

As we move through the shortest month of the year, our classrooms are buzzing with energy. While February is often associated with candy and cards, at Bridges Community School, we are using this time to focus deeply on two of our most important core values: Kindness and Caring.

We are talking with students about how small acts of kindness—inviting a friend to play, helping someone with a dropped book, or simply saying "good morning"—create a ripple effect that makes our whole community stronger. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home. Ask your student: "What is one kind thing you did for someone today?" or "Did you see anyone being a good friend today?"

🧥 A Note on the Changing Weather On a practical note, Mother Nature seems to be having a hard time making up her mind! We are experiencing very chilly mornings followed by surprisingly mild afternoons.

To ensure your child is comfortable during recess and outdoor learning, please dress them in layers. A sweatshirt or fleece over a t-shirt helps them stay warm at the bus stop but allows them to cool down when running around at lunch.

Please also remember to label all jackets, hats, and gloves with your child’s name so lost items can find their way back home!

Thanks for sharing what you know at All School Meeting - grade 4! Your Joan of the Arc Readers Theater was great!

My name is Madison Mattson and I am currently a college student at MNSU Mankato studying elementary education. In my free time I love to spend time with my family and enjoy the outdoors whenever I can. I also love going on walks with my sisters. I am excited to work with students at Bridges as this is a great opportunity as I work towards becoming an elementary teacher.

Please remember to have gym shoes for the days your child has gym. Especially since the weather is going to warm up and it will get muddy/dirty outside and we want to keep the gym/hallways clean. Also a quick reminder that boots are not as safe for the concerns of twisting or spraining ankles etc..

Please make sure your child has their packet of information and is registered. If they haven't let the classroom teacher know their topic, please also remind them to do this! Happy Science Fair! We are in need of Science Fair Judges! If you are able to judge, please let Chelsea Copeland and/or Jody Rittmiller know your availability! Here is the schedule for Wednesday, March 18th.

8:10-8:45 am - Set up projects in the gymansium

9:00-9:30 am - Judges meet to talk through judging, get settled and ready

9:30-11:00 am - Judging of projects

1:00-2:30 pm - Open for family and classrooms to view projects.

2:45 pm - Clean up projects and take home

Families will receive an email on Monday, February 23rd with the conference sign-up link.

BAC will have the book fair set up on the gymnasium stage during conferences

Bridges conference date/times:

Tuesday, March 24th 3:20-8:30

Thursday, March 26th 3:20-8:30

Monday, March 30th 3:20-7:00 *Please note that the Book Fair will close about an hour early on the final conference night

To keep our students safe, please follow these rules during arrival and dismissal:

• Pull to the curb: Never stop in the middle of the street to let students out. Please park on the side of the road or wait for a spot to open.

• Keep Bus Lanes Clear: Do not park or idle in the designated bus lanes at any time. Cones will be out, please do not park in the designated bus lanes as they need to get in and out. Thanks for your understanding.

• Where: Auditorium

🌲 THE BIG TRIP

• What: Up North Minnesota History Field Trip (Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Duluth)

• When: April 29 – May 1

🎉 THE PARTY

• What: 5th Grade Celebration

• When: May 14 @ 1:30 PM

• Where: Gymnasium & Cafeteria
