College Heights Connection
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
What a fun week. Thank you to all the families who were able to attend our Family Literacy Night and to those parents and grandparents who were able to volunteer their time as mystery and flash mob readers. Thank you to Amber Womble for your continued help and support organizing the PTO Trunk or Treat. Lastly, a special thank you to the PTO and our Read-To-Me-A-Thon organizers: Avery Bell, Tracy Valle, Leah Jenness, and Hannah McLean.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our annual Book Parade tomorrow. We will begin at 9:30 a.m. We kindly ask families to line up along the parking lot area so that we can reserve the sidewalk for the students and staff. We will wrap up the parade with the presentations of the PTO Read-To-Me-A-Thon winners. Don't forget to stop by the Book Fair before or after the parade.
Just a reminder College Heights is closed to all students (0-3 and Pre-K) on Tuesday, November 4 for a CSD Remote Digital Learning Day, including teacher professional learning. Pre-K students will engage in at-home instruction using a learning choice board. Look for more information from your child's classroom teacher.
Have a great weekend,
Principal Garland

Seen around College Heights - Literacy Week fun!
The Family Literacy Night photo booth was fun for all ages.
Casey Griffin (Simon's dad) reads to students in Ms. Sanders' Pre-K class
Billy Isom's mom Melissa reads to the infants in Ms. Mags' infant class
Jackie Hatch reads to three curious preschoolers in Ms. B's class
Ms. Phillips' Pre-K class had so many excellent mystery readers
This looks like a great story in Ms. Ramirez's Pre-K classroom
Camden enjoys some one-on-one reading time in Ms. Bauer's room
What a treat! Alessandra Gravel was a surprise mystery reader for FIVE classes today: Ms. Tori, Mr. Peyton, Ms. Asia, Ms. Amaryst, and Ms. B! She is a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines and she came (in uniform!) to read Bearplane! and Maisy Goes on a Plane to our one- and two-year-olds and to her daughter Emma's preschool class. She even brought T-shirts, airplane trading cards, and wings stickers for the ones and twos, and yummy Delta Biscoff cookies for Ms. B's class.
Veda was a big fan of the book fair!

Scholastic Book Fair
The fall Scholastic Book Fair wraps up tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. Thank you for supporting our book fair. Proceeds from the fair are used to purchase classroom supplies, books, furniture, and more.
If you haven't had a chance to shop but you will be here tomorrow for the Book Parade, the book fair will be open starting at 7:30 a.m. and will close during the parade, reopening at around 10:15 a.m.
Can't make it in to shop? Our online fair lasts until November 6 and there are thousands of books to choose from, with 25% of every purchase coming back to our school. Click here to shop online.
Thank you to all the families who purchased books from teacher wish lists. The teachers were delighted to add these new books to their classroom libraries and can't wait to read them to their students. We are so grateful for your generosity!
Finally, a huge thank you goes out to all of our book fair volunteers this week: Corinne Fukayama, Angie Li, Alessandra Gravel, Ellie Hoover, Brooke Rasheed, Laura Viilo, Lauren Attkisson, Emily Lindberg, and Leah Jenness.
