We are Wolves!

Hello, Wolf Families.

Happy February! As we move into the second month of the year, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support of our students and school community. February is an exciting month at our middle school, filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. It is kindness month. We discuss how kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others.

As we approach the mid-point of the semester, it is a great time to check in with your child about their progress. We encourage you to use our parent portal to stay informed about grades and upcoming assignments. Please feel free to reach out to teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Have student attend tutorials and Saturday Quests. Night Quest will be starting in February and more information will be coming soon.

Additionally, February is a good time to help students prepare for any upcoming tests or projects. Encourage your child to stay organized and manage their time effectively. Our staff is here to support them in any way possible. We are getting very close to testing season, attendance matters. I want to emphasize the critical role that consistent attendance plays in your child's academic success. Regular attendance ensures that students do not miss out on valuable learning experiences and helps them stay on track with their peers. Please support your child by encouraging prompt and consistent attendance.

Lastly, I want to put two important community event dates on your radar. Our annual STEM Night sponsored by Citgo will be on March 26th from 5:00-6:30 in the Gold Gym. This is a free, fun night for the whole family. We also will be having our Mental Health Awareness Night on April 1st from 5:00-6:00 in the cafeteria. This is a great event to get community resources for mental health available.

Thank-you always for your support.

Warm Regards,

Rachel Neff-Rupp, Principal

Important Attendance & Tardy Policy Updates

Our attendance rates are lagging, and we need your support to ensure students are in class where they belong. To address excessive tardies, absenteeism, and skipping classes, we are implementing the referral system that holds students accountable for their attendance that will include discipline consequences.

What this Means for Students:

-Excessive tardies and unexcused absences will result in disciplinary consequences. There are tardy captures each week that result in lunch detentions.

-Skipping classes will be addressed through our referral system, with escalating consequences.

How Can You Help:

-Submit doctor's notes or parent notes promptly to excuse absences and prevent unnecessary consequences.

-Check your student's attendance daily using the Home Access Center (HAC).

-Reach out for support- Mrs. Saecedo, our Parent Liaison, is available to assist if you need help accessing HAC.

Need Additional Support?

-We understand that some families may be experiencing difficulties or hardships impacting their student's attendance. If your family needs assistance, please reach out to:

*Our counselors for academic and emotional support.

*Mrs. Ramirez, our Social Worker, for community resources.

*Mrs. Blanco, our Communities in Schools Representative, for additional support services.

We are committed to ensuring students are making the right choices on campus but we need your help at home. Thank-you for partnering with us to prioritize attendance and student success!

Wolf Pack Reads: February

📚🐺 Wolfpack Reads – February Edition

Theme: Setting the Scene

February is all about setting and plot in Wolfpack Reads! Students will explore how where a story takes place helps shape what happens in the story. From schools and neighborhoods to cities and communities, the setting plays a big role in how events unfold and how characters respond.

📖 Fiction Question:
How does the setting of the story contribute to the plot? Support your answer with evidence from the story.

📘 Nonfiction Question:
After reading your text, what is one conclusion that can be made? Support your answer with evidence from the text.

🎯 Learning Objective

Students will analyze how setting influences plot and practice drawing conclusions using text evidence—key skills for strong readers in every subject.

📌 AVID Connection – WICOR in Action

Wolfpack Reads supports AVID, especially the R – Read part of WICOR. Through intentional reading and evidence-based responses, students build critical thinking skills that help them succeed in class and beyond. Reading regularly helps our Wolves become more confident, independent learners.

💘📖 NEW Valentine’s Display: Love These Stories!

Stop by the library and check out our Valentine’s Day Realistic Fiction Display! These books focus on friendships, family, teamwork, and real-life relationships—the kind students can actually relate to.

✨ Realistic fiction shows how characters handle everyday situations, solve problems, and grow—just like our Wolves do!
💞 Perfect reads for February and a great way to connect stories to real life.

Come fall in love with a great book and set the scene for your next favorite story! 🐺💛

Parent Reminder: Partnering for Student Success with Teachers

Parents, we encourage you to reach out to your student's teacher as the first line of communication for any questions or concerns before speaking to administrators. Teachers are here to work with you to address any issues and create a strong partnership for your student's success. All teachers have tutorials available and want to help your child. Together, we can ensure a positive and productive school year.
