Double The Rileys, Double The All-Stars!
This past week, 8th graders Riley Brennan and Riley Patriquin achieved something truly remarkable: both were named Cape Ann League All-Stars for the Ipswich High School Swim Team. In certain sports, such as swimming, talented 8th grade students are permitted to compete at the high school level. This means our middle schoolers are diving into the pool against athletes as old as 18. It is incredibly impressive that these two young athletes not only held their own against older competitors, but performed at an elite level. Both qualified for the State meet and earned their prestigious All-Star status in their signature events—Riley Brennan in the 200-meter freestyle and Riley Patriquin in the 200-meter individual medley. Congratulations to both Rileys on these outstanding accomplishments!
The Cape Ann League honors didn’t stop with our students; we also have incredible talent leading the way on the sidelines. Two of our dedicated middle school teachers, who double as coaches at Ipswich High School, were recently named Cape Ann League Coaches of the Year in their respective sports. A huge congratulations goes out to 6th grade math teacher Mr. Laroche, recognized for his outstanding leadership in Boys' Basketball, and 8th grade civics teacher Mr. Binette, honored for his phenomenal work with Girls' Track. We are so proud of the dedication, skill, and inspiration they bring to our student-athletes, both in the classroom and in the athletic arena.
A Stellar Season On The Ice
Congratulations to the more than 60 talented skaters who represented both communities with pride this winter on the Ipswich and Hamilton-Wenham Ice Hockey team. Across the board, our skaters had a fantastic season. The 5th and 6th grade group showed incredible talent and growth, and the coaches are already excited to see their continued development next year. Meanwhile, the girls team brought tremendous energy and positivity to the rink, playing with heart from start to finish in every single game.
The 7th and 8th grade boys team ended their season in spectacular fashion by winning their division championship last weekend. On Friday night, the Tigers battled hard to win a close game against Beverly. They kept the momentum going on Saturday, pulling off an exciting, come-from-behind overtime win over the North Stars. Finally, on Sunday, the boys skated to an impressive 9-2 victory over the previously undefeated Watertown team, proudly bringing home the gold medals.
Our talented roster included sixth-graders Logan Conley and Grayson Whitaker, as well as seventh-graders Clara Corrigan, Owen Twomey, Mason Dos Santos, Spencer Gove, and Damian Smith. Rounding out our hometown heroes were eighth-graders Maeve McGinley, Sibley Whitaker, Sage Bendle, Hunter Monigle, and Mikey Ellenton.
