Hardy Happenings
March 3, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,
Welcome, March!
Literacy Week was magical at Hardy! We read with flashlights, enjoyed our mystery readers, completed our passports, and had lots of school spirit. Thank you to our volunteers for making the PTA Book Fair a huge success. We couldn’t do it without you.
Our big push now is enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year. Please encourage any neighborhood families to enroll now. If you do not plan on returning next year, please complete this Google Form for our records. Also, all students, new and returning, must re-register through the Parent Portal for the next school year. 100% of families will need an active Parent Portal account to attend Hardy next year; this is a district-wide requirement. Please see below for more information.
We currently have a large waitlist for School Choice at Hardy. If you received an offer, please respond as soon as possible so we can finalize placements and begin moving through the waitlist.
We know families have choices when it comes to where they send their child to school, and we are truly grateful you’ve chosen Hardy.
Lastly, I hope you can join us tomorrow evening for our Henry Cluster meeting at Dailard Elementary. Flyer below.
With Gratitude,
Principal Aragon

Learning Together to Strengthen Safety and Community
This past weekend, I joined our Henry Cluster principals and our Area Superintendent, Dr. Cazary, in Sacramento for the California Teachers Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education Winter Institute. We learned practical, research-based strategies to strengthen school culture, respond to bias, and build campuses where every student feels safe, seen, and valued. At Hardy, safety and belonging are a priority every day. We teach empathy and respect, we take concerns seriously, and we work together so every child knows they matter.
This week: Family Conferences
Wednesday through Friday, we will be holding family conferences and following our minimum day schedule. Your teacher will reach out if a conference is needed, if you have not received a conference notice or sign up information, you do not need to schedule a conference at this time.
These conferences lead into our Monday non-instructional day. Please note the schedule changes
• Thursday, March 5: minimum day
• Friday, March 6: minimum day
• Monday, March 9: no school, non-instructional day
No School: Monday, March 9
Monday, March 9 is a non-instructional day, no school for students.
CYBHI INSURANCE EMAIL
This is a reminder that families will begin receiving emails this week from Paradigm Healthcare Services requesting their student’s health insurance information and consent to bill as part of San Diego Unified’s participation in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Fee Schedule. We know families may have questions about this email. Please take a moment to review the helpful flyer below that contains more detailed information about why the district is requesting you complete this form and how it helps ensure the district receives reimbursement for services that support our students.
Show Appreciation to a Standout Staff Member at Hardy!
We invite you—our students and families—to help us spread the love. If there’s a staff member who has made a positive difference in your school experience, let them know by sending them a LOVE Note. LOVE = Living Our Values Every(day). Your words of appreciation are powerful and lasting.

PTA News & Updates
📚 Thank You for a Wonderful Book Fair!
Literacy Week + the Scholastic Book Fair was a joyful celebration of reading at Hardy. Thank you to the families who shopped, volunteered, attended Family Night, and supported eWallets and Share the Fair.
Because of your participation, we raised funds that go directly back to Hardy students, supporting books, programs, and future PTA events. And at the end of the week, we were able to use Share the Fair funds to supplement classroom libraries, which thrilled our teachers. We’re grateful for this community.❤️
