September Newsletter
A word from the Principal
Dear West Side Families,
Thank you for trusting us with your children each and every day. It is a privilege to be part of their lives, and we are grateful for the partnership we share with our families.
Our mission focus for the month of September is Respect and Relationships. We are working with students to build a school community where everyone feels valued, respected, and connected. Strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do at West Side Elementary.
We also completed our first safety drill of the year, a fire drill, and we could not be more proud of the way our students conducted themselves. They were calm, responsible, and followed directions extremely well. Great job, Thunderbirds!
We are excited for Homecoming Week which will start on Sept. 14th and look forward to celebrating with our school community. We plan to walk our students to the Homecoming Parade. More information will be shared as we get closer to the event.
Finally, a big thank you to our parents and families who are dropping students off in the northwest parking lot off of Thomas Street. Your cooperation is helping us keep arrival safe and organized for everyone.
Thank you for being such an important part of the West Side family. We are off to a great start, and we look forward to an amazing year together!
Go Thunderbirds!

News from the Nurse's Office
Welcome Back! I am glad you are here. I hope that you had a wonderful summer and that you are excited for the school year. As the school year begins, here are two ways to feel better and learn better.
First, eat a good breakfast before coming to school, this will help you have the energy to learn.
Second, getting enough sleep is also very important to help you learn. Did you know kids your age need at least 8-10 hours of sleep each night to feel your best.
