NEWS FROM DR. COOPER
Dear Families,
Happy Friday! The kids have made it through the first three days of school and are probably ready to relax this weekend. We stayed busy learning and practicing expectations in the lunchroom, common areas and classrooms. Students started earning castle coins for expected behaviors and they'll get to shop at our school store, The Shield Shop, in the coming weeks. Ask your child how many castle coins they have so far.
One other priority we have in August is practicing our safety drills. Millard Public Schools uses an emergency response system known as the “Standard Response Protocol” (SRP). The SRP is a series of clear, concise actions established to provide consistent vocabulary and response during emergency situations. The SRP protocols are utilized by all metro area schools and local law enforcement agencies. The SRP language consists of five actions: “Hold”, "Secure", “Lockdown”, “Evacuate” and “Shelter”.
Below you will find a copy of the parent/guardians guide that will help explain the protocols and expectations for both students and adults who may be in our schools. We will practice each of these protocols next week. If you are ever in need of guidance regarding how to talk to your child at home about school safety, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Plucknett or me.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Tara Cooper

PK - 5 FAMILY VOLUNTEER AND INVOLVEMENT SURVEY
We value the partnership between families and our school community. This survey is designed to learn more about how you'd like to be involved in school activities, events, and volunteer opportunities. Your input will help us create more meaningful, flexible, and inclusive ways for families to participate—whether it's during the school day, after hours, or from home. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your preferences!

FUN RUN T-SHIRT SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE
On September 16th, we have our school's only fundraiser of the year, our Boosterthon Fun Run! Our Fun Run is a well-attended family event. Each Neihardt staff member and student will be given a shirt for the Fun Run to wear during the event and to keep. We are reaching out about sponsorship opportunities for the Fun Run t-shirts! With a sponsorship, your business logo will go on the back of the t-shirts (size is dependent on amount donated), displayed in our school newsletter, and posted on our school social media. In addition to this, more advertising will happen each time one of the 400+ shirt recipients wear these shirts outside of the Fun Run.
Boosterthon, the organization we partner with to execute the Fun Run has conducted research that shows both participation and funding both increase when the event takes place in the fall. This shift also benefits our sponsors as our students get a brand new shirt early in the fall that they continue to wear throughout the entire school year, advertising your business in a greater magnitude.
Please see the attached flyer and use the contact information listed if you are interested or to ask any questions you may have. Responses are appreciated by next Wednesday, August 20th.
Thank you for considering!
