Mrs. Thornton
Sage Canyon Elementary
Dear Families,
My name is Kristen Thornton and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year.
4th grade is such a pivotal year for students. They are becoming more independent and are taking responsibility for their learning. You will watch your child mature right before your eyes this year as they take more ownership of their education.
I am a believer in strong communication and collaboration between home and school. Please reach out to me at any time to let me know how your child is doing personally, emotionally, etc. We will work together this year to help your child thrive.
Sincerely,
Kristen Thornton

Classroom Behavior Management
The mission of Sage Canyon is to foster a supportive and challenging school community that fuels A CONTAGIOUS SPARK for learning and recognizes students as unique individuals. As a school we follow the Wrangler STAR Code.
Safe
Thoughtful
Accountable
Respectful
Students are expected to exhibit STAR behavior in all areas of the school (classroom, connections, lunchroom, hallway, recess, etc). Our school behavior management program is brand new this year. We will be using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) which is an evidence-based, tiered framework used to teach and encourage positive behavior. Stay tuned for more information on this!
Parent Volunteers
Parent volunteers are always welcome in my classroom. If you would like to help with multiplication or division timed tests, leading small groups, planning parties, or helping at home please reach out!
Contact Info
The best way to contact me is through email. I will check my email throughout the day, however if you have something time sensitive that you need me to know please contact the office.
I am looking forward to a great year together!
Sincerely,
