UPCOMING SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR 2026-2027
DELAYED START FRIDAYS
As a reminder, all DCSD elementary and middle schools will move to a 45-minute late start every Friday beginning next school year (2026-2027). This dedicated time for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) will allow our teachers to collaborate on data-driven instruction and curriculum consistency, directly benefiting our studentsβ academic growth.
While we know this change requires adjustment, we are excited to align with our high schools and neighboring districts in prioritizing this time for educator excellence. Details regarding transportation and BASE can be found among several FAQs on the districtβs PLC webpage.
Hereβs a downloadable 2026-2027 school-year calendar including late-start Fridays.

THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I write this, we are in the final week of April and the final month of school is upon us. May is an absolutely packed month, starting off with Teacher Appreciation Week next week. This is a great time to celebrate our fabulous teachers. This year, our PSP has done a really good job of putting together a really fun week. Unfortunately, it is still double top secret, so I cannot share any details. Stay tuned......
On the home front, my one and only comes home next week. She is so busy that we barely have time to chat anymore. It is a good thing but it is still a little sad that my little girl is all grown up. Supposedly she is going to work most of the summer and take some classes but we will wait and see if that truly happens. I talked to her the other day and she told she can't wait to come home. Mostly to get away from her roommate but I guess to actually spend time with me. I guess the Chronicles will start to get a lot better once she comes home.
That is it for this week's episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continues....
