Master Plan Committee Update

Thompson School District shared the following information with the community on October 6, 2026.

If you have questions about the options or need additional information to better understand the potential impacts, please use the Master Plan Committee feedback form.

Dear Thompson Community:

Last evening, the district’s Master Plan Committee (MPC) met for the second time this school year. The team continued its work of evaluating a range of options to help ensure our schools are serving students in the most effective and efficient manner possible, including school consolidation or adjustment to their functionality within the district.

The committee, whose voting members were chosen through an open application process, consists of parents, community members, and staff in an advisory role to the Board of Education. Its mission, under Board Policy FBA, is to review and make recommendations to the Board regarding facility needs within the district.

As shared in the previous communication, last month the committee members reviewed the process that they will use to evaluate school utilization across the District. This work follows the process outlined in Board Policy FC and Board Policy FCA, which establish the District’s approach to evaluating school utilization and the process for consolidation or closure. Last evening, the committee used that process to discuss several potential options that the group is exploring in its work. To view the options that were presented to the committee, please visit the School Options Under Evaluation page on the Master Plan Committee website.

Please note that no formal recommendations to the Board of Education have been made by the committee at this time. The committee will continue to evaluate all of the presented options in its upcoming monthly meetings. The timeline for this process is identified in Board policy FCA-R. The process involves the following steps:

Evaluate: Enrollment, utilization, facilities, programs, transportation and community impacts. This was completed in the September Master Plan Committee meeting.
Develop School Options: Maintain, adjust boundaries/programs, consolidate, or close
District Input Gathering from Master Planning Committee: Input will be received from the MPC on each of the options.
Board of Education Consideration: In January, per policy, the Board will review the analysis, input, and potential impacts evaluated by the committee. If the Board votes to take the recommendation of the MPC, steps outlined in Board policy FCA-R will be followed.
Planning and Implementation Phase: If a decision is adopted by the Board of Education, planning would continue throughout the current and 2027-2028 school years. Closures and/or consolidations would take effect for the 2028-2029 school year.

Community members are encouraged to review the information and provide questions or feedback. If you have questions about the options or need additional information to better understand the potential impacts, please use the Master Plan Committee feedback form. Feedback will help the district and committee identify areas where additional information or clarification may be needed as the evaluation process continues.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Notice: 2026-27 Climate and Culture Survey

In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we ask students in grades 3-12 to participate in an online survey. The survey content asks students to self-reflect on emotional regulation, social awareness, growth mindset, perseverance, sense of belonging, school safety, and teacher-student relationships.

Your student will be invited to participate in the full online survey during regular school hours at the end of October. When the survey is introduced, students will be invited to participate and informed that they do not have to answer any questions they do not wish to answer. The full survey should take no more than 20-30 minutes to complete.

In addition to this full survey, students will also have opportunities throughout the year to take shorter, more frequent surveys called Check-ins. These Check-ins will take just a few minutes to complete and will use questions drawn from and aligned to the full survey. This will provide timely feedback on how students are feeling and engaging in their learning. The information gathered from Check-ins will help school staff provide more immediate and responsive support for students.

You can review survey questions here: Grades 3-5 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 6-12 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 3-5 Supports & Environments Survey, Grades 6-12 Supports & Environments Survey

Student responses to both the full survey and Check-ins will follow our district’s expectations for maintaining confidentiality for your student. Our this-party vendor, Panorama, has signed the district's data privacy agreement to ensure all required online encryption protocols are followed.

Parents/guardians have already provided consent or opted out through online registration or annual family update; if you have any questions, please contact Zee Rae, School Counselor at BFK, at 970-613-5523.

A Friendly Reminder About Dogs at Pick-Up and Drop-Off

For the safety and comfort of all our families, dogs are welcome during pick-up and drop-off times as long as they remain on the outside perimeter sidewalk. We ask that dogs stay off school grounds and away from the main entry and pick-up/drop-off areas. We understand that pets are part of the family and appreciate your help in keeping everyone safe and comfortable during these busy times.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Applications Open for Free & Reduced School Meals

For the 2026-2027 school year, the Thompson School District will provide access to free meals for all students through the Healthy School Meals for All program. This program ensures enrolled students are provided free breakfast and lunch, regardless of family income.

Although all students will receive access to free meals, it’s still important for households to provide their income information when requested. Gathering this information allows TSD to receive the state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible for Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted or waived school fees, etc. Providing household income information ensures you and your school receive all available financial support.

***All household income information is confidential and will not be shared without your consent.***

Use the link below to apply online. Or you may pick up a paper application at any TSD school or the Support Services Center and return or mail it to 2890 North Monroe Avenue, Loveland, CO 80538.

Partnering for Student Success

At BFK, strong partnerships between families and our school are an important part of student success. Clear, honest, two-way communication helps us work together to give every student the best possible experience.

Let’s Talk, Directly
We’re committed to keeping families informed, being accessible, and listening. If something isn’t clear, please ask. If something feels off, let us know. Early and direct communication helps us stay focused on what matters most, your child’s success.

Partnering with Teachers
Our teachers know your children in ways that go beyond grades and report cards. Families can strengthen that partnership by checking in, asking questions, responding to communication, and participating when possible. When school and home work as a team, students benefit.

Bringing Concerns to Us
When a concern arises, please start by talking directly with your child’s teacher. Teachers are closest to what is happening in the classroom and, in most cases, a conversation with them is the quickest and most effective way to answer questions, clear up misunderstandings, and find a solution.

We encourage families to ask questions and to approach conversations with the understanding that we are all on the same team. If you have spoken with your child’s teacher and the concern has not been resolved, or if the situation requires additional support, please reach out to the main office to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Zupparo.

We promise to listen, take concerns seriously, communicate honestly, and work toward solutions. We are grateful for our BFK families and the trust you place in us. Let’s keep talking, keep partnering, and keep working together to help our students thrive!
