Fifth Grade parents, you will be receiving a separate email soon about our end of the year activities, such as the 5th Grade BBQ and our Clap Out on the last day of school.

Please encourage your students to finish the next 3 weeks with determination and grit.

Have an amazing May!

Wrapping Up a Habit-Forming Year!
As we approach the final days of the school year, it’s incredible to look back and see how much our students have grown. From the first day of school to this final May push, our students have been busy sharpening their saws and setting meaningful goals.

Celebrating Our Victories

This year, we didn't just learn about the 7 Habits—we lived them. We saw students:

  • Be Proactive by taking charge of their own learning.

  • Put First Things First by balancing academics with chores.

  • Synergize to solve problems in the classroom and on the playground.

Summer Mission: Sharpen the Saw

Leadership doesn't take a summer vacation! As we head into the break, we encourage our families to focus on Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw. Staying "sharp" is all about maintaining balance so we can return in the fall refreshed and ready to lead. When the "I'm bored" moments inevitably hit, try using these "Sharpen the Saw" ideas to find balance:

  • The Body (Physical): Stay active by swimming, biking, or trying a new healthy recipe together.

  • The Brain (Mental): Keep your mind engaged and curious by reading for 20 minutes a day, visiting the library, or picking up a new hobby.

  • The Heart (Social): Build your "Emotional Bank Account" by writing a thank-you note or performing a random act of kindness.

  • The Soul (Inspirational): Take time to reset by spending time in nature, practicing deep breathing, or journaling.

Whether your student is Beginning with the End in Mind by planning a summer project or Seeking First to Understand during a family outing, these habits will keep them grounded and energized.

Thank you for a wonderful year, and we can’t wait to see our leaders return in the fall!

Message From Nurse Teresa Message From Nurse Teresa

It has been a pleasure getting to work with all of your students at CRE this year! Thank you for your partnership in helping to keep all of the students healthy this school year!

We are seeing an uptick of allergy symptoms in the clinic. If your student suffers from allergies, there isn’t a lot we can give them at school to help alleviate symptoms. If they need medication to treat allergies, please give this at home before school. Encourage your kids to wash their hands after coming indoors and avoid touching their face/eyes to avoid experiencing symptoms.

End of the Year Clinic Reminders:

Medications - If you brought in prescription or over the counter medications for your student this year, you must pick them up from the clinic before the end of the last day of school, May 22nd. Medications cannot be sent home with students for safety reasons. If you haven’t picked up medications by the end of the year and have not made other arrangements with me, the medications will be disposed of.

Medical Conditions - Please remember that medication forms and emergency action plans must be filled out annually and submitted to the clinic at the beginning of the school year. Forms can be found online and sent to me via email or brought in at Meet the Teacher night at the beginning of the next school year.

Health Inventory - The Health Inventory, part of the yearly enrollment process online, must also be completed annually at the beginning of the school year.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer! ~ Nurse Teresa

2026-27 PreK Enrollment Opens:

Feb. 9-13: Currently enrolled and returning Pre-K families and WSD employees.

Feb. 23: All Wentzville School District residents.

To enroll in our tuition-based preschool program, students must be 3 years old by July 31 of the year they are starting preschool.

In past years, families could choose their Early Childhood location. This year, your child’s Early Childhood site will be determined by your home address. Your address falls within an elementary school attendance boundary, and that boundary determines which Early Childhood location your child will attend. If you are unsure which elementary school serves your address, you can find it using the District’s interactive boundary map.

Early Childhood Locations by Elementary School Boundary:

Barfield: Boone Trail, Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, Duello, Green Tree, Prairie View

Samuelson: Heritage, Journey, Lake View, Peine Ridge, Stone Creek, Wabash

For more information or to register, please visit the District enrollment webpage.

Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

  • Drop-off is from 8:20 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. Doors close promptly at 8:35 a.m. If you arrive after this time, please bring your student to the front office to sign them in.

  • To keep the line moving efficiently, we ask that drivers remain in their vehicles while staff assist students.

  • Walkers may enter through the front or primary hallway entrances. All parents and visitors must enter through the front doors and sign in at the office.

  • If you need to bring your child into the building, please use the main parking lot. Parking in the diagonal bus zone slots is strictly prohibited.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures

All car riders and daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.

Important: Parents are no longer allowed to walk up to pick up their children. Please use the car pick-up line.

Bright blue car tags will be distributed at Meet-the-Teacher Night. If you are unable to attend, tags will be sent home with students on the first day of school. Please check with the office if you need a car tag. USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT.

When driving through the car lanes, please display the bright blue car tag on your dashboard where names can be easily seen. If you do not have a car tag, staff will need to check your ID, contact the office for clearance, and then call your child. This process slows down pick-up for everyone.

A few additional reminders:

  • Dismissal changes will not be accepted after 3:00 p.m.

  • Student safety is our top priority. Because 3:20 p.m. is a busy time, we cannot allow office checkouts after 3:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

  • If your child is a walker but will become a car rider due to inclement weather, you are responsible for notifying the school. We no longer send text messages about rainy-day dismissals.

Please review the arrival and dismissal maps.
