We Have a Resource for That! We Have a Resource for That!

It's hard to believe that it is almost November! We are quickly approaching the big deadlines for early action, early decision, and scholarships. Often students are considered for merit-based aid automatically when applying. Some colleges share that the priority deadline for merit scholarships matches the early action deadline, but please check individual websites for confirmation.

This week's focus is on resources to help students finish up applications. Please see below for useful tools to finalize supplemental essays, track application requirements, and insightful podcast recommendations from the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).

College Visits to PHS: October 23-27

Visit Updates

1) Please attend the session if you sign up for it. If you need to cancel your registration, you can do so up to an hour before the event.

2) If you cannot attend but would still like information from the college, email Ms. Cassandra Allen at callen@rtmsd.org and ask for a set of materials to be left for you.

3) Even if you have already applied to the school - ATTEND THEIR VISIT! The person you meet with is often the first person reviewing your application. It is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and build a personal connection.

4) Some colleges measure demonstrated interested in the school as a factor in the admissions process. This can include visiting campus, taking a virtual tour, and even attending their session when they visit PHS! Don't miss your chance to let the college know how interested you are in them!

College Spotlight: Kenyon College

Kenyon visited PHS on Thursday and the students who attended engaged in meaningful dialogue about the college with a senior admissions director. Learning about fun traditions (watch out, music majors) as well as strong academics (calling all writers), students walked away enlightened about this small, selective liberal arts school in Gambier, Ohio! Check out the video below!
