Dear Worthington Hills Families,

We had some very special visitors at WHES this week! The mounted unit stopped by for a surprise visit, and several lucky students even got the chance to pet the horses. What an unforgettable way to add a little extra excitement to our school day!

This weekend, we hope your family will have some fun turning a pumpkin into a favorite book character! Get creative, think outside the pumpkin, and enjoy bringing a story to life together. We can't wait to see what our Hawkeyes come up with!

Be sure to read the rest of the newsletter for upcoming events and important reminders. Have a wonderful weekend!

Gratefully,

Aquarius Hopkins
Principal

Library Volunteers Needed!

The school library seeks volunteers to assist Mrs. Steele with book reshelving. This flexible opportunity requires approximately forty-five minutes or less.

Volunteers are welcome to participate during school hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. Mrs. Steele will provide brief instruction, after which volunteers may retrieve the cart labeled "Books to Be Shelved" and begin the task.

Parents interested in volunteering during their child's scheduled library period may support checkout procedures at the end of the session. Library periods are scheduled as follows:

8:20–9:05 — Grade 3

9:10–9:55 — Grade 4

10:00–10:45 — Grade 5

12:15–1:00 — Grade 2

1:05–1:50 — Kindergarten

1:55–2:40 — Grade 1

Halloween Parties

We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate Halloween with us on Friday, October 30th! We have planned a fun-filled day for our students, and we would love to have you join us.

Here are the details:

Costume Parade: 2:00 p.m. on the playground (weather permitting)

Classroom Parties: 2:15 p.m.

All families are welcome to attend the parade on the playground to watch your child show off their costume! For classroom parties, we ask that only our designated room parents join us in the classrooms. Please remember to sign in at the office and wear your visitor sticker before heading to any classroom.

As you prepare your child's costume, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • No pretend weapons are permitted at school.
  • Masks or costumes that cover the face are not allowed.
  • Your child should be able to wear the costume to school or put it on independently.

Please note that parking will not be available in our lot during this time, as busses will be arriving. We kindly ask that you park on Clubview or walk to school instead.

In the event of inclement weather, the parade will move indoors, and we will be unable to accommodate visitors. Fingers crossed for sunny skies!

As always, please remember that we are a nut-free school district. Please do not send any items containing nuts for classroom parties.

This serves as a reminder that there are some students in your child’s school who have peanut and/or tree nut allergies. As the safety of our children is paramount to all, we need your support to make our cafeteria “nut free”. A child with a nut allergy can suffer a serious reaction merely by touching a food containing a peanut or tree nut. Therefore, we ask that you adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Please do not send in any peanuts, peanut butter or foods containing peanuts or peanut butter to be eaten during lunch.

  • Read ingredient labels carefully to ensure that the snacks sent in with your child are peanut and tree nut-free.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Health Office Assistant, Gabby Bowman, RN @ gbowman@wscloud.org or our School Nurse, Beth Laflumboise RN @ elaflumboise@wscloud.org with any questions or concerns about food allergies. They can also be reached at 614-450-4015.

Elementary Student Handbook
Please read the student handbook. Remember, student cell phone & smartwatch use is prohibited. Students will keep devices silenced & out of sight during school hours, including before school and lunch unless authorized by a school administrator.
