Hendrickson High School
Message from Principal Grebb:
Ferris Bueller said it best: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Take a moment to breathe in the time we have together, four years truly is a blink of an eye.
There is a lot happening at Hendrickson. Hawk Cheer will compete at the UIL State competition this weekend as they go for gold. Our annual musical opens next Thursday night, and it’s a show you won’t want to miss. Performances will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the PAC.
Also next Thursday, we will welcome all 8th graders to campus to explore Hendrickson High School. That evening, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., we will host our annual Course Fair. Shortly after, students will begin selecting their courses for the 2026–2027 school year. Choosing a path forward is an important decision, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need guidance.
Finally, Monday is a holiday honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the central leader of the American Civil Rights Movement. His commitment to equality, justice, and nonviolent protest not only led to historic civil rights legislation but also established this day as a national day of service, a time for reflection, community involvement, and carrying forward his dream of a better world. At Hendrickson, we strive to honor that dream every day, and I am proud of the forward-thinking mindset our students consistently demonstrate.

Hawk Counseling Update
We are thrilled to partner with you as our students prepare for an exciting 2026-2027 academic
year and beyond! This year, we are enhancing the graduation planning and course selection
process to be smoother, more collaborative, and centered on your student's long-term success.
Student and Family Engagement Events - January 22, 2026
Pfuture Pfreshman Pfair: Current 8th-grade students will experience this exciting event
during the school day. Students will be introduced to the wealth of high school programs,
opportunities, and resources available to them at their zoned high school campus.
8th Grade Family Night: That evening, families of rising 9th-grade students are invited to
the high school campus where your student's program(s) of interest are offered. This is a
chance to learn more about the programs, campus, and high school experience, meet
school staff, and see the facilities.
Course Fair: That same evening, all high school families are invited to their high school
campus for an informative program and course fair. This is a prime opportunity to
connect with staff and explore possibilities for the next school year, including clubs and
organizations.
A Refreshed Course Selection Experience in SchooLinks
The process for selecting courses will be streamlined and focused on family partnership
this year. All rising 9th–12th grade students and their guardians will utilize the SchooLinks
platform to formalize the required graduation plan and make program and course selections for
their high school experience. This detailed planning helps students maximize their academic
and enrichment participation in alignment with their postsecondary and career goals. You will
receive dedicated resources and guidance to support you every step of the way!
This year's process offers unprecedented access and a clear timeframe for planning:
Two-Week Selection Window: The exciting graduation planning and course selection
period in SchooLinks will be open for two full weeks! Students and families must finalize
their selections between January 23rd and February 6th.
Personalized Graduation Plan (PGP) Approval: Parents and guardians of rising
9th–12th graders will also complete a crucial step by February 27: electronically
reviewing and approving their student’s Personalized Graduation Plan (PGP) in
SchooLinks. This partnership is vital to officially approve their high school path.
What can you do to prepare?
Make sure your email address is on file and updated with the campus registrar, as this is
the email to which your guardian SchooLinks account is synced.
Review your student's Would You Rather and Postsecondary Goals in SchooLinks, talk
about their aspirations and goals alongside emerging and in-demand careers and
postsecondary options to help them prepare for these exciting and important decisions.
We sincerely appreciate your partnership in supporting our students as they prepare to take the
next steps in their academic journey. More details will be shared as we enter the spring
semester. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s school counselor—they are
ready to assist you!

JAMII Mentoring Program
Hendrickson High School has received a grant from the Pflugerville Education Foundation to develop a program to provide vocational opportunities for at-risk students in the 9th and 10th grades. As part of the project, it will launch the JAMII mentor program matching students with mentors from facility, staff, Pflugerville family and community. The program will include more than 20 students.
Part of the project development is to recruit faculty and staff at HHS to become part of this effort.
Project JAMII, a Swahili word pronounced “Jah-MEE-a” that means “community” and “family.”
Research has shown mentoring to be particularly effective for students of color who face environmental risk factors such as poverty. In this context, JAMII will be explored as one component of the overall remedy to issues and shortfalls of students at HHS.
School-based mentors can be critical for students’ success. Yet not every student who needs a mentor has one, and not every educator knows how to be a mentor.
That’s why it’s important for schools to be intentional in facilitating opportunities for school staff to develop mentorship relationships with students, experts say—especially now, amid the academic and social-emotional fallout of the pandemic and the youth mental health crisis.
JAMII Mentoring Program orientation is on January 21, 2026 from 5:30 to 6:30pm in the HHS main conference room.

FAFSA is Open (Class of 2026)
Dear Senior Parents and Guardians, The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open for the Class of 2026! Completing the FAFSA is the most important step in securing financial aid for college, trade school, or career training programs. This application determines eligibility for: Federal grants (money you don’t repay) Work-study opportunities Low-interest federal student loans Many state and college-specific scholarships How the FAFSA Works This Year: The student begins the FAFSA with their own username and password. The student will then invite one parent/guardian (called a “contributor”) to log in with their own username and password. That parent completes their section, and then the FAFSA is submitted. Important: Only one parent needs to fill out the FAFSA. Which parent is used depends on the family situation: Married parents (to each other): Both parents’ information is included, but only one parent logs in as the contributor. Divorced/separated parents: Use the parent the student lived with most in the past 12 months (or who provided more financial support). If that parent is remarried, the stepparent’s info must be included too. Single, never married parent: Only that parent’s info is needed. Why act quickly? Some financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Many colleges require the FAFSA on file before awarding scholarships. Even if you don’t think you qualify, it’s still worth completing. You’ll need your 2024 tax information to complete the form.
