The SIS students were able to exercise their future voting rights by voting for their favorite Staff Costume Contest. Staff worked in teams to generate a team costume. Students have to vote for their favorite after lunch on Thursday. Our students were excited for this new event, which they got to be part of!
5th grade students at the intermediate school demonstrated physical and chemical changes with PUKIN’ PUMPKINS on October 30th. Kids cleaned out the insides, discussed the parts of a pumpkin, the pumpkin life cycle, and even planted some pumpkin seeds in our school garden! The chemical reaction of vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, and food coloring made for some disgustingly awesome puking pumpkins!
Special thanks to the families that donated pumpkins and the parent volunteers that carved the faces students drew on them!
Third grade conducted a science lab to examine a pumpkin’s properties! We examined the inner/outer appearance of the pumpkins, measured the pumpkin’s size as well as determined if the size of a pumpkin affected the number of seeds inside!
