DMS Community Newsletter 25/26

Dear Defender Families,

Our newsletter is full of important information this week—please take a few minutes to read through it carefully.

CAASPP Testing is scheduled for May 4–May 8. Please mark your calendars and help ensure students are well rested and arrive to school on time each day. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Patterson. Read CAASPP Reminders here.

iPad Insurance is still available for families to purchase. Please see Ms. Sue in the library for more information. iPad inspections will take place April 24 - May 1.
Be sure to read the letter from Mr. Sousa regarding the end of the school year, linked in the newsletter and attached below.
Earth Day Dress Up Day - April 22, 2026. See Flyer below for details.
7th Grade Mulligan’s Trip: Students who meet eligibility requirements can find more information in the flyer below.
Yearbooks for 2025/26 are now on sale—be sure to reserve yours before they sell out! Use the link provided or see the flyer below for details.
Incoming 7th Graders (Current 6th Grade): Please review the immunization requirements for the 2026/27 school year.
Please complete the Annual Family Update, which is required each year for all returning students.

Clothing Donation Drive:
If you cleaned out closets over the break, we welcome your donations! From April 6 through May 15, Scholar Squad is sponsoring a fundraiser by collecting gently used clothes, shoes, sweats, and more. Donations will support families in need and benefit our school. Items can be dropped off before school at the drop-off zone or after school in the office. Please place donations in a sealed bag (preferably a trash bag) to ensure they are collected properly.

Please complete the Annual Family Update for returning students!!!

It is now time to complete your Annual Family Update in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

This update is REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS RETURNING TO TVUSD FOR THE 26/27 SCHOOL YEAR.

Any student who does not have a completed Annual Update:

may not be enrolled in a class for the 26/27 school year
may not receive a schedule
and may not be able to participate in school business days in August.

It is imperative that all families complete the Annual Family Update as soon as possible to prevent any delay in your child's enrollment for the next school year.

Please note, this process is for RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY. If you have a child in your family who will be new to TVUSD for the 26/27 school year, you must complete the New Student Enrollment process. Click HERE for New Student Enrollment instructions.

TVUSD Safe Riders Registration

If you have a student who is riding a bike/scooter/ebike/escooter to school, they need to complete the Safe Riders Course.
